A new investment in the future of agriculture and ranching through the Dillard College of Business Administration at Midwestern State University will serve as a leading resource and catalyst for promoting both economic viability and environmental stewardship through collaborative research, education, and innovative agribusiness solutions.

To establish a strong foundation for long-term success, Laura and Diaz Murray have made a generous commitment of $2.5 million to the Midwestern State University Foundation, Inc., for the benefit of the University and the establishment of the Center for Farm, Ranch & Rangeland Management. The center is dedicated to enhancing the economic profitability and financial viability of production agriculture. It will also foster healthy rangeland ecosystems through practical, research-based knowledge and support that emphasize hands-on application, enabling students to learn and implement best practices.

In recognition of the Murrays’ generosity, the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents approved the naming of the Diaz W. Murray Center for Farm, Ranch & Rangeland Management at its August meeting.

As artificial intelligence continues to reshape higher education and the workplace, MSU Texas is taking a strategic approach designed to help students develop AI literacy while maintaining academic integrity and rigorous academic standards.

Faculty and administrators at MSU Texas have spent the past year developing an Artificial Intelligence Strategic Plan that gives instructors flexibility while helping students understand expectations for generative AI use in the classroom. Rather than adopting a single campuswide policy, the plan proposes four categories that allow AI use to vary by course, discipline, and learning goals: AI-Prohibited, AI-Critical, AI-Limited and AI-Exploratory.

The strategic plan goes beyond addressing academic integrity. It also focuses on helping students develop practical knowledge of AI and preparing them for the workforce they will enter after graduation.

Every opportunity can shape your future.
MSU Texas alumnus Dane Felicien ('99) turned hands-on experience into a career as National Manager of Education and National Accounts for Silicon Valley-based technology company Extreme Networks.

As a student, Felicien gained real-world IT experience in the computer lab and with the university's technology team. Today, he encourages students to make the most out of every opportunity. His advice: Be intentional, seek out opportunities and put yourself out there.
