With the 2026-27 school year in full swing, seniors across Whittier Union are already taking part in the many activities planned throughout the year to celebrate their achievements, successes, and final year of high school! At Santa Fe High School, seniors recently kicked off the school year with a Senior Sunrise event, bringing students together for a morning of connection, activities, and school spirit. That’s a wrap on Back to School Week! Whittier Union campuses were full of energy, connection, and excitement as students and staff kicked off the 2026-27 school year. From spirited welcomes to reconnecting with friends and showing off school pride, the week set the tone for a great year ahead. We’re excited for all that’s to come. New school year, new menus! As students settle into the 2026-27 school year, Whittier Union’s Nutrition Services Department has new menus ready for students to enjoy. As a reminder, Nutrition Services offers breakfast, lunch, and supper to all students free of charge! Make sure to stop by your school cafeteria and enjoy a meal!

Whittier Union commenced its 2026-27 school year with spirited back-to-school events held over three days, holding rallies and celebrations for more than 9,200 students, welcoming the incoming Class of 2030, and ushering in a renewed commitment to excellence, achievement, and growth! During the First Day of School on August 12, students were greeted by cheer squads, mascots, inspirational signs, and band groups performing music while classmates hugged and high-fived after a long summer break. Teachers welcomed a host of new students to their classrooms, which were adorned with school and college pennants, pointing the way to a school year with the potential for greatness. Freshmen First Day is underway! Whittier Union campuses are welcoming the newest members of the District community for a day filled with collaboration, team building, and plenty of opportunities to connect with new classmates. Students are getting familiar with their campuses, teachers, and classrooms while meeting their peers and beginning to build the connections that will help make high school a successful and memorable experience. Whittier Union kicked off the 2026-27 school year with its annual Day One event, bringing District staff together for a morning of reconnecting after the summer, setting goals, and planning for the year ahead. The event was filled with smiles, conversations, and plenty of excitement as colleagues reunited and looked ahead to another year of working together in support of students and school communities! Day One set the tone for another mission-driven 2026-27 school year, and Whittier Union is ready for all that’s ahead!

As we prepare to welcome students back, Whittier Union is highlighting two District policies designed to support a positive and focused learning environment.

• Artificial intelligence (AI) Guiding Principles: The District’s AI Guiding Principles outline our values and approach to using artificial intelligence and provide a foundation for the District’s continued AI journey.

• Mobile Device Policy: During instructional time, mobile devices and similar communication tools must be powered off and out of sight. Devices may be used before school, during nutrition and lunch, and after school.

Whittier Union administrators are gearing up for the 2026-27 school year! District leaders recently gathered for professional development, collaboration, and goal-setting as they prepare for another successful year of supporting our students and school communities. They also made time for some team-building fun, including a Great British Bake Off competition and table tennis! We’re looking forward to all that’s ahead and can’t wait to welcome our students back.
