Yesterday, representatives from Whittier City School District attended the City of Whittier’s State of the City Breakfast.

We are grateful for opportunities like these to connect with community leaders, learn more about the work happening throughout our city, and continue strengthening the partnerships that support our students, families, and schools.

WCSD is proud to be part of the Whittier community, and we look forward to continuing to work together in service of our students and families.

Yesterday, our very own Teacher of the Year, Mark Taylor, was honored at the Los Angeles County Teacher of the Year Luncheon. Throughout his 33 years of service, Mr. Taylor has served as Edwards Middle School STEAM and Dual Immersion Academy’s PE teacher, leaving an indelible impression on his students, colleagues, staff, and families in the Whittier community. We couldn’t be more proud to celebrate this outstanding educator! Congratulations, Mark! Thank you for caring for our students, instilling skills to last a lifetime, and teaching with heart and passion.

Yesterday, members of our Executive Cabinet had the opportunity to meet with Chief Bar, Captain Elizarraras, and Captain Todd of the Whittier Police Department to discuss school safety, strengthen our ongoing partnership, and tour the department.

We are grateful for the continued collaboration between WCSD and Whittier PD and appreciate the time, dedication, and service of those who work each day to serve and protect the Whittier community.

Thank you, Whittier PD, for your partnership and continued commitment to the safety of our students, staff, families, and community.
