Today, we were excited to warmly welcome our new certificated employees as they begin their journey with Whittier City School District! 🎉

New Certificated Employee Orientation is more than just an introduction. It’s the beginning of meaningful connections, professional growth, and a shared commitment to student success. Throughout the day, our newest educators learned about our District, connected with colleagues, and prepared to make a positive impact in our classrooms and school communities.

We are thrilled to have them join Team WCSD! Here’s to an amazing school year! 🏫📚📝🍎

We love welcoming our district management team to our amazing school! We were honored to have them stop by to personally welcome Mr. Sandoval to our campus during his first week. Their support means so much as we kick off an exciting new school year! We can’t wait to welcome all of our Royals back at Royal Start this Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Royal Start is the day to pick up schedules and complete any pending paperwork. We look forward to seeing everyone and starting an incredible school year together! Our first official day of school is August 11th for 6th graders and August 12th for 7th and 8th graders.

Today, our administrators had the privilege of welcoming Alejandra Roggero, Whittier’s first Poet Laureate, for a meaningful Poetry for the Masses workshop.

A proud Whittier College graduate who attended Andrews in 4th and 5th grade and later Edwards Middle School, Alejandra returned to inspire the very community that helped shape her journey. Through thoughtful reflection and creative writing, she encouraged our leaders to consider the hopes, purpose, and intentions they carry into a new school year.

As an acclaimed author, television producer, and co-founder of Poetry for the Masses, Alejandra reminded us that leadership begins with reflection, empathy, and the courage to imagine what’s possible.

Thank you, Alejandra, for sharing your voice, your story, and your passion with our leadership team. We are grateful for the inspiration as we prepare to welcome our students for another incredible school year.

Our squad is ready to launch the 2026-2027 School Year! Over the last two days, WCSD Leadership Team came together to kick off the 2026-2027 school year by connecting  with colleagues and engaging in professional development at the 2026 Management Advance. Day 1 focused on District Priorities - Bettering students’ lives; building community; being present. Understanding our individual strengths and developing effective management skills. Day 2 focused on Leading with Intention and looking at data to guide our intentions. Ready for this new school year!

🎉 Welcome to WCSD, Mr. Geoff Smith!

Mr. Smith joins the Educational Services Department with extensive experience in special education and educational leadership.

Throughout his career, he has championed inclusive practices, strengthened support systems for students, and built collaborative partnerships with educators, families, and school communities.

We are excited to welcome Mr. Smith to the WCSD family and look forward to the leadership, expertise, and dedication he brings as we continue creating opportunities for every student to thrive.
