Applying literature comprehension techniques to real life experiences! 🍂🍃🍁

This week marked the official transition into a new fall season. Our pre-k class has been enjoying reading books and having discussions about all of the beautiful things that happen in the fall. We love seeing them learn new vocabulary and make connections in the reading to their own lived experiences!

Our Early Childhood Development program paves the way for all future learning by introducing foundational concepts in a way that reaches the hearts and minds of each child. If you're curious to learn more, contact us today to schedule a private tour, we would love to meet with you! The 2026-27 school year is just getting started, it's not too late to join us for another amazing year at Carden Academy of Whittier! 💙

We're officially more than two weeks into the school year, and coming together to make learning magic happen! 💙

For many students, preschool may be their first experience in an academic environment. Adjusting to new routines, rules, social situations, and being away from home makes the first few weeks of school a big transition period. Getting to know new teachers and friends is such an exciting time that leads to growth, confidence, and a gentle nudge toward independence for our littlest learners. We are so fortunate to have some of the most nurturing, caring, patient, and talented teachers to foster our students as they take off on the beginning of their academic journey.

If you are looking for a preschool that offers your child more than day care, contact us today to schedule a private tour and learn more about the academic foundation our program has to offer.

Our first Meet the Masters program of the year has our students diving deep into the works of Michelangelo! Here, Mrs. Bushman explains some of the intricate details noticed on "David," one of his most famous sculptures.

Today in STEM we read the story of "Ricky the Rock Who Couldn't Roll" then challenged our students to work in teams to make their own rocks that could roll. With teamwork and determination, they were able to make all of their rocks roll! Well done, Griffins!

We were thrilled to have the Hip Hop Birthday Gorilla help us celebrate Mrs. Munnerlyn on her special day during this years staff Carden training day! This will go down in the books as one of the most memorable and comical trainings to date. 🤣

The end of August is a fun and special time as we welcome back our faculty and staff and prepare for the coming year. This week we'll be prepping classrooms, finishing up trainings, and hosting Back to School Night for our families. We can't wait to see everyone for the first day of school next Tuesday!

"Real education develops sound judgement and requires practical application of knowledge in all aspects of learning and in every phase of life. A collection of miscellaneous facts is not an education." - Mae Carden

This week's Yosemite trip has our fifth-eighth graders applying their knowledge and skills to the world around them. They're having fun, seeing amazing sights, practicing team building, learning hands-on skills, and making memories that will last a lifetime. 💙

At Carden Academy, we prepare our students for their future both inside and outside of the classroom. Beginning in fourth grade, we schedule trips to places like Yosemite, Catalina Island, Washington DC, and more so that our students get to step outside their classrooms for a taste of the world beyond their own backyards. Contact us today to learn more about what Carden Academy can offer your child.
