Hola Books Hola Books was created to nurture a love for reading and promote language proficiency among bilingual and biliterate children.

We do this through authentic decodable books, rigorous instructional resources, and field-tested professional development — all based in the Science of Reading specific to bilingual instruction. We work with native Spanish speakers and expert bilingual educators to craft engaging, culturally-relevant stories that foster identity and belonging while systematically building foundational literacy skills. By providing high-quality materials, we partner with educators, families, and communities. Together, we can nurture the next generation of confident and curious readers who thrive in diverse classrooms and our multicultural society.

Les presentamos a nuestra comunidad. 💛

Cada personaje de Hola Books fue creado con intención — para reflejar los nombres, las familias y los pequeños momentos cotidianos de los niños bilingües.

Comen tacos cualquier día de la semana. Celebran cumpleaños con piñatas. Caminan a la panadería con sus papás. Leen antes de dormir en español.

Son — y este es el punto — como los niños que los están aprendiendo a leer.

Porque los niños bilingües merecen historias hechas para ellos.

Ni traducidas. Ni adaptadas. Ni “más o menos.” 💛

We’re so excited to share that Hola Books founder Lucía Rocha will be joining Academia Beeverso as an international speaker! 🎉📚

Lucía will present:

✨ Aprender a leer: de la decodificación a la fluidez y la comprensión

This conversation gets to the heart of why Hola Books exists: Spanish literacy instruction deserves to be grounded in how children actually learn to read in Spanish.

Lucía will explore the journey from decoding to automaticity, fluency, and ultimately comprehension—and what that means for the way we teach our emerging bilingual readers.

We’re especially excited to connect with educators across Latin America and continue expanding the conversation about evidence-based, linguistically responsive literacy instruction in Spanish. 🌎💜

Starting September, we’re hosting Hola Books Office Hours — a live, monthly space to bring your questions, no matter where you are in your journey with us.

🗓️ Every second Tuesday
🕓 4:00–5:00 PM PST
💻 Virtual, open to all

Whether you’re a longtime partner, just piloting our materials, or still exploring — this time is for you.

Bring anything: scope and sequence questions, assessment and progress monitoring, ideas for using our Spanish decodables alongside your current curriculum, or just curiosity about what makes Hola Books different.

Our programs are created originally in Spanish, never translated, and grounded in the five pillars of literacy. We built this because bilingual children deserve instruction that honors their language, culture, and identity — and we want to keep showing up for the educators doing that work.

First session: September 8 at 4 PM PST. Link in bio. 🔗
