You made it through the first week of school! 🎉
We know the first week brings a little bit of everything—new routines, new students, long days, lots of questions, and plenty of reasons to be proud.
Thank you for everything you’ve done this week to welcome students, support one another, and get the year off to a strong start.
Now take a moment to breathe, recharge, and enjoy your weekend. You earned it. đź’™

đź’™Welcome to the eWEa family!
Today, eWEa had the pleasure of providing lunch for our newest East Whittier educators and introducing them to the support, protection, and collective strength that union membership provides.
Starting a new teaching position can feel exciting and overwhelming. Our new members should know that they do not have to navigate their careers alone. eWEa is here to answer questions, advocate for fair working conditions, protect contractual rights, and make sure every educator has a voice.
Thank you to our newest members for choosing to stand with your colleagues and help make our union stronger. We are so glad you are here!
Our Voices. Our Power. Our Union.

We Won Paid Pregnancy Leave!
Starting January 1, 2027, California's school staff will have up to 14 weeks of PAID pregnancy disability leave. We fought hard for this and we did it together. Every one of us who shared our story, gathered signatures or showed up at the Capitol to fight for this leave made this happen. This legislation will transform the lives of California families for generations and we won it together.

We did it. 🙌 Signatures have been counted! The Secretary of State just announced that the permanent extension of Prop 55 to fund public education is eligible for the November ballot!

It has come to our attention that the district will be voting to end their live-streaming of board meetings at Monday's school board meeting. If you rely on this form of communication to be apprised of what is happening at our school board meetings, we highly encourage you to attend the June 8th school board meeting. If you want to speak during the citizen communication section be sure to fill out the yellow card and turn it in to Belinda Valenzuela before the start of the meeting at 6pm.
