We’re excited to invite you to the first of many workshops in our Parent Education Series at De Learning Compass!

Please join us for a FREE Parent Workshop: “Understand Your IEP, Know Your Rights”—an informative and welcoming evening designed to help parents better understand the IEP process, their educational rights, and the important role parents play as members of their child’s IEP team.

We are honored to welcome Sarah Smith, founder of Advocacy Imperfect and a special education advocate who holds a Master of Social Work degree. Sarah’s advocacy journey began as a peer advocate right out of high school, and 2027 will mark 25 years of advocacy.

Sarah also brings a deeply personal perspective to her work. She had an IEP herself growing up and is now the parent of two children with IEPs. Her personal, parental, educational, and professional experiences allow her to help families better understand their child’s IEP, assessments, educational rights, and how to advocate effectively while working collaboratively with their school team.

Last week, we wrapped up an unforgettable DLC Summer STEAM Camp 2026, and we’re still smiling as we reflect on all that our students accomplished. 💙

During our final week, our young scientists and engineers explored the fascinating world of physics, designing, building, and testing their own carnival games. They proudly shared their projects with their families during our culminating celebration, showcasing not only what they created, but also the critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and perseverance they developed along the way.

Summer camp was a tremendous amount of work, but it was also one of the most meaningful and rewarding experiences. Seeing our students grow in confidence, curiosity, and excitement for learning made every moment worthwhile.

We are incredibly grateful to our families for trusting us with your children, to our dedicated staff and volunteers for their passion and commitment, and to our amazing students for making this summer so memorable.

We truly feel thankful and blessed to be part of such a supportive community. Thank you for an amazing summer we can’t wait to see what the future holds for our DLC families! 🌟

Mad Scientist Week is off to an incredible start!

Over the past two days, our young scientists have been exploring the fascinating world of chemistry by learning about atoms, molecules, and the building blocks of matter. Through hands-on activities, they created their own 3D atom and molecule models while discovering that everything around us is made of atoms.

One of the most rewarding moments has been hearing our preschool and elementary students confidently use scientific vocabulary like atom, molecule, and chemistry. Their excitement, curiosity, and confidence continue to grow with every new discovery.

At De Learning Compass, we believe children learn best by doing, exploring, and asking questions. We can’t wait to share the exciting experiments still to come this week!

I am so proud of every one of our young scientists. Their final projects and presentations were amazing! Each child brought their own creativity, imagination, and personality to their work, proving that no two creations are alike—and that’s what made them so special.
