RHC Library meets students' information needs on the second floor of the Learning Resource Center!

The Rio Hondo College Library offers books, periodicals, informational databases, music CDs, and video recordings in support of the college curriculum and for general enrichment. Access to the online databases is available on campus and via AccessRio.

Roady is back with another book giveaway! In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Roady is giving away a copy of Solito, a memoir written by Javier Zamora, along with some bookmarks.

This memoir tells the story of 9 year old Javier as he left his friends and remaining family in El Salvador to reunite with his parents who had left El Salvador years before due to the turmoil of the Salvadorian civil war.

A beautifully written and heart wrenching book, Roady hopes you find it and read it. If you do find it, please tag us!

The book is hiding in plain sight on the first floor of the LRC building. Good luck and happy Hispanic Heritage Month reading!

It's a new academic year and RHC Library is continuing with our Hecho at the Library series and our Zine Workshops, always with new themes so you are making something new each time.

Tuesday, September 15, kick off Hispanic Heritage Month by making a mini piñata at our crafty Hecho at the Library event. 11:00 am to 12:30 pm in the Library lounge.

Thursday, September 17, tell your story by making a perzine right next to our new zine wall. How to make a mini zine is always taught but you can put as much or as little into your zine; it's all about you. 12 to 2 pm in the Library lounge.

As always, snacks and materials are free while supplies last. Come by, relax, make something new and entirely for you.

NEW ZINE COLLECTION!

It took longer than expected but RHC Library's inaugural zine collection is ready for circulation!

After a successful presentation in collaboration with Annette Young from Cypress College Library at RHC's FLEX Day, the new zine collection was launched and is currently on showcase in the RHC Library foyer through August 28, titled Voices in Circulation.

These zines were made by RHC students and staff for the Zine Outreach Project in the 2023-24 academic year and are the first wave of zines to be added to our collection. These are self-published student and community voices worthy of reading that are often left out of mainstream collections. History is in the making and more zines will be added in the coming year.

These can be borrowed, just like our books, so come check them out or browse them in our space.

If you're a RHC student or staff member who's interested in making a zine (and possibly adding it to our collection), come to one of 3 Zine Workshops this semester. We'll be posting soon, so be on the look out. Hope to see you there!

June's Featured Book Displays are up!

This month librarians Chloe and Nicole collaborated on a display in observance of LGBTQIA+ Pride Month.

Additionally, librarian Francisco is bringing the FIFA World Cup to life on our shelves by highlighting soccer and some of its famous players.

Get your summer reading on by taking home one of these inspirational reads.

Relaxation Stations are back in the library for some stress relief in preparation for finals.

There are seven stations around the library, each with a puzzle, coloring pages, and a game.

Stop by any of the stations; do one or all of the relaxing activities. We hope it helps you decompress and recharge for finals.
