Steve Harvey had a promise he made to God.

When he got his radio show, he didn’t forget who gave him the opportunity.

He made the first 12 minutes of his show about God. Not money. Not ratings. Not himself. God.

Every morning, before the jokes, the interviews and everything else, he would use that time to talk about the power of God, prayer, faith, grace and mercy.

Think about that for a minute.

God gives you a platform, and instead of using all of it to promote yourself, you give Him the first part of it.

That’s powerful.

Steve has said, “I don’t want to be just known as a guy who was funny. I want to be known as an impact person.”

And that’s exactly the kind of mindset we need.

Because your platform may not be a radio show.

Maybe it’s a locker room. Maybe it’s your business. Your classroom. Your family. Your gym. Your social media. Maybe it’s simply the people you come in contact with every day.

The question is, what are you doing with the platform God gave you?

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”
Colossians 3:23

Steve has continued to talk about needing a real relationship with God, saying, “Without a relationship with God, this thing called life is daunting at times.”

That’s the message.

Don’t just ask God to bless your platform.

Ask Him to use it.

Don’t just ask Him for success.

Ask Him what He wants you to do with the success.

And don’t wait until you have a million followers, a championship, a big business or a radio show.

Start with whatever He’s already put in your hands.

Give God the first part.

Give God the best part.

And give God the glory.

Brandon Lake said something at one of his concerts that really made me stop and think.

He talked about giving his life to Jesus many years ago, and then reminded people that if you’re not walking with Him, you’re missing the point.

Think about that.

You can have the career. You can have the money. You can have the followers. You can win championships, sell out arenas, build the business, get the recognition and accomplish everything you ever dreamed about.

But if you’re doing all of it without Jesus, what are you really chasing?

Brandon Lake has said, “It’s not to entertain. It’s to see people have an encounter with God.” (Lifeaudio⁠)

That’s the difference between performing for people and living for God.

Jesus isn’t just something we talk about on Sunday. He isn’t just a song we sing when life is going good. He isn’t just part of our bio or something we put on a T-shirt.

He is the reason.

“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.”
Galatians 2:20

Brandon has also shared how God has given him a second chance each day to use his life to give Him glory, reach people and love people. (Bible.com⁠)

That hits different.

Whatever platform God has given you, use it.

Whatever talent He’s put in you, use it.

Whatever influence you have, point it back to Him.

Because one day the applause stops. The lights go out. The scoreboard gets forgotten.

But Jesus remains.

If you’re walking with Him, keep going.

If you’ve walked away, come back.

And if you don’t know Him yet, don’t miss the point.

JESUS IS THE POINT.

Anthony Wint just did it again.

After his 23-second TKO victory over Lucas Armand at UFC 332 in Salt Lake City, Wint used the biggest moment of the night to point the attention away from himself and toward God.

That’s what makes this bigger than a fight.

Wint has been very open about why he fights. He has said that “fighting, in a sense, is my ministry,” and that he wants to use the UFC platform to propel God’s message to the masses.

That’s a different mindset.

The goal isn’t just to get your hand raised. It’s to use whatever platform God gives you to glorify Him.

“I don’t fight for the belt, man. I fight for the fact that either I’m going to get the mic or you’re going to get the mic.”

“Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”

You might not fight in the UFC. You might not have thousands of people watching you.

But you have a platform.

Your job. Your family. Your team. Your business. Your community. Your social media.

The question is, when God gives you the opportunity, what are you going to do with the microphone?

Rich Mullins wrote one of the most powerful worship songs we know, “Awesome God.” But what really challenges me is how he lived.

He had success. He had money coming in. He could have chased the lifestyle that came with it. Instead, he chose simplicity. He limited what he kept for himself and gave much of what he earned away.

That makes you think…

What are we chasing?

More money? More stuff? More recognition? More followers?

Because at the end of the day, none of it goes with us.

Jesus said, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21

Rich Mullins said:

“It’s not about how much you have, but how much you give away.”

His life is a reminder that success isn’t measured by what you can accumulate. Sometimes real freedom comes from realizing you don’t need more.

You can have everything this world says is valuable and still miss what matters most.

BASEBALL IS HIS PLATFORM. JESUS IS HIS FOUNDATION.

Alex Call stood at Dodger Stadium during Faith and Family Day and talked about something that goes way beyond baseball.

He grew up going to church, but as he got older, he realized he had to answer an important question for himself: Is this just what my parents believe, or is this what I truly believe?

That’s when his faith became real.

“I try not to be ashamed of the Gospel or anything else, just glorify Jesus in my daily life and on the field.”

That’s powerful.

Because your faith can’t just belong to Sunday. It has to show up on Monday. It has to show up at work, in the gym, in the locker room, at home, in your relationships and when nobody is watching.

Call has also talked about surrendering his performance to God, saying that when he knows he has done the work, he can simply give it to Him.

That’s a different way of looking at success.

Do the work. Prepare. Compete. Give everything you have. But don’t let baseball, money, business, status or success become your identity.

Alex Call has repeatedly pointed back to Matthew 5:16, even writing it on his baseball cards:

“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

That’s the kind of platform that matters.

Don’t just be known for what you do. Be known for Who you represent.

Sometimes God doesn’t hand you the crown. He gives you a fight first.

Mike Vrabel recently used the story of David and Goliath when talking about Drake Maye dealing with adversity. His message was simple: the journey isn’t always going to be easy, and sometimes you have to go through the fight before you get where you’re trying to go.

“God wanted David to be a king. He didn’t hand him a crown, right? He gave him a fight. So, you’ve got to go through a fight. He gave him Goliath.”

That’s something athletes can understand, but it’s not just for athletes.

Maybe you’re facing your own Goliath right now. A setback. A closed door. A financial struggle. A career that isn’t going the way you planned. Something that looks bigger than you.

David didn’t win because Goliath was small. He won because David knew who was bigger.

“The battle may be bigger than you, but it will never be bigger than God.”

David had five smooth stones, but he only needed one. What looked impossible to everybody else was an opportunity for God to show His power.

THE LORD WHO DELIVERS ME WILL DELIVER ME AGAIN.

Don’t let the size of the fight make you forget the size of your God.

Keep your faith. Keep preparing. Keep moving forward.

Your Goliath might be part of the journey to your next chapter.

The world is watching.

At the GMA Dove Awards, Christian hip-hop artist KB, Kevin Burgess, had a moment where he could have simply accepted the award, thanked a few people and walked off the stage.

Instead, he used the platform to point people to Jesus.

“As the world is watching, give them Jesus.”

That hit different.

Because it’s bigger than music. It’s bigger than sports. It’s bigger than an award, a championship, a business, a stage or a social media following.

Whatever platform God has given you, somebody is watching.

The question is, what are they seeing?

KB reminded everybody that Christian hip-hop isn’t just music. He talked about people coming to Christ, marriages being saved and people finding themselves through the Gospel.

That’s what GODTOURAGE is about.

Don’t be afraid to let people know who you belong to. You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to have all the answers. Just don’t hide Jesus when God gives you an opportunity to represent Him.

“Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

The world is watching.

Give them Jesus.

16-0 down. Still believed. Still fought. Still finished.

Bo Nix and Talanoa Hufanga didn’t just help lead the Broncos to an incredible 30-26 comeback over the Rams, they used the biggest stage to point the glory somewhere higher.

Hufanga, after his two-interception night, said:

“Honestly man, all praise to God… all glory to God that I go out there and play and have some fun.”

And Bo Nix followed with:

“But like he said, all glory to God. He’s really good. He’s given us this platform. He’s given us this opportunity and our job is just to make the most of it.”

That’s the message.

The platform is football.
The purpose is bigger.

When the score says you’re down 16-0, don’t quit. When the pressure gets heavy, don’t forget Who gave you the opportunity to be there in the first place.

Bo Nix has spoken openly about his faith and points to Colossians 3:23 as one of his favorite Bible verses:

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord…”

Play for something bigger than the scoreboard.

Work for something bigger than yourself.

Give God the glory in the wins, trust Him in the losses, and use every platform He gives you to point people back to Him.

“Your platform is temporary. Your purpose is eternal.”

Sometimes God has to remove something before He can make room for something greater.

What feels like subtraction might actually be preparation. What feels like a setback might be God redirecting you. What you thought you needed might be standing in the way of what He has planned for you.

We don’t always understand the process while we’re going through it. That’s where faith comes in.

Trust God when the door closes. Trust Him when the opportunity doesn’t work out. Trust Him when people walk away. Trust Him when the plan changes.

God doesn’t waste the seasons that don’t make sense.

“I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten.” Joel 2:25

Sometimes God removes. Sometimes He redirects. Sometimes He makes you wait. But that doesn’t mean He’s finished with you.

Keep trusting. Keep working. Keep praying. Keep moving forward.

You may be looking at what you lost, while God is preparing you for what you haven’t seen yet.

What feels like subtraction today could be preparation for multiplication tomorrow. 🙏🏽

Sometimes faith isn’t a straight line.

Frank Grillo has talked about growing up with a heavy influence of Christ, drifting away from it, and then finding himself thinking about his faith again while making The Grey. He said, “It got me thinking about my faith again.”

I think there’s something a lot of people can relate to in that.

You can get distracted. You can go through seasons where you feel far from God. You can question things. But being far away doesn’t mean God has stopped calling you back.

Sometimes God meets you right in the middle of a season you never expected to change you.

“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.”
James 4:8

Wherever you are in your walk today, don’t be afraid to turn back toward Him. Keep seeking. Keep asking questions. Keep your heart open.

God can use the moments you thought were taking you away from Him to bring you closer than you’ve ever been.
