🏈 Partnership in action!

We were honored to welcome California State Assemblywoman Blanca Pacheco to see the SWSD and YMCA partnership in action!

During her visit, Assemblywoman Pacheco saw firsthand how this partnership is creating more opportunities for our students to get active, build confidence, develop teamwork skills, and experience the many benefits of youth sports. She joined us at flag football practice—and even jumped in to play alongside our young athletes! 🏈

We’re grateful for the opportunity to showcase what’s possible when schools, community organizations, and local leaders come together to invest in our students and create meaningful opportunities for them to grow and thrive.

🤝 Building Community. Creating Impact.

On September 23, SWSD welcomed more than 50 educational partners to our first District Community Schools Advisory Committee Meeting of the 2026–27 school year at Monte Vista!

Parents, school and district staff, mental health partners, Parks & Recreation, after-school providers, and community-based organizations came together to celebrate the accomplishments of Community Schools Year 1 and help shape the work ahead in Year 2.

As we transition from building structures to building capacity, partners examined data, celebrated strengths, identified opportunities for growth, and shared meaningful perspectives. Accessibility and community voice remained at the heart of the conversation, including translation devices that provided Spanish-language access to presentations and discussions.

Together, our educational partners are helping SWSD move from vision to action—strengthening shared ownership and ensuring the voices and experiences of our students, families, staff, and community continue to shape the future of our schools. ❤️

Lake Marie families recently gathered for Coffee with the Principal, an opportunity to connect, learn, and get an inside look at what’s happening on campus. Parents heard from the principal, community liaison, and on-site social worker about the resources and support available to students and families.

Families also enjoyed a campus tour and got to see the exciting learning taking place in classrooms! 📚✨

One of the best ways families can support student success is by helping establish a consistent school routine.

A regular bedtime, preparing clothes and backpacks the night before, and planning ahead for the morning can make getting to school on time easier.

Keep your routine going.
Keep your attendance streak going.
