New Role Alert! We're excited to celebrate Charlie Basham as she steps into a new role as Montessori Operations and Family Services Coordinator at our Montessori school, Go Like the Wind Montessori School!

This October will mark Charlie's 17th year at WLPS! She began as the Family Service Worker at the Early Childhood Center and has taken on many roles along the way, including McKinney-Vento liaison, foster care liaison, truancy coordinator, Title IX coordinator, My Future Fund liaison and recycling coordinator. Now, she's bringing that wealth of experience to support students and families at our Main Street Campus.

Charlie is especially excited to get to know the children at Go Like the Wind Montessori and watch them grow from babies into elementary students.

Outside of work, Charlie loves Korean dramas and K-pop. She's seen Stray Kids in concert twice and is even learning Korean in hopes that someday she won't need the subtitles!

After nearly 17 years and quite the collection of job titles, Charlie says she plans to stick with WLPS until retirement — and she's curious to see how many more roles she'll add to the list by then. ❤️🤍

Please join us in congratulating Charlie on her newest WLPS adventure!

New Staff Alert! Trojans, join us in welcoming Mary Porter to WLPS as a new Early Childhood Center Paraprofessional!

A graduate of Howell Public Schools and Eastern Michigan University, Mary first heard about WLPS through her university, where she learned about our positive environment and close-knit community. She’s excited to gain experience with our Head Start program, continue learning and help our youngest Trojans grow.

Mary brings a collaborative, open-minded approach to her work and a strong desire to advocate for and support others. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, going for walks, traveling and spending time with her very social calico cat, Cleo.

Let's all give Mary a warm Trojan welcome! ❤️🤍

New Staff Alert! We're excited to welcome Ashlee Miller as a paraprofessional at our Early Childhood Center!

Ashlee was drawn to WLPS by the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young children. She loves helping kids succeed, discover new things, and grow each day, and she's excited to learn alongside them as she becomes part of the WLPS team.

Outside of school, Ashlee enjoys spending summers camping in Glennie, baking for her side business, and spending time with family. She's also a proud cat mom to Shadow, Carmel and the newest addition, Beanie!

Ashlee describes herself as organized and joyful and hopes to bring that positive energy to the ECC team. She's also someone who likes to jump in and find solutions when things get challenging — a great quality when you're working with our littlest learners!

Please join us in giving Ashlee a warm Trojan welcome! ❤️🤍
