This week's Feature Friday is Rob Boostrom!
Rob is an Associate Professor in the Marketing Department and has been at UW-Whitewater CoBE for 14 years. When asked what brought him to UW-W, Rob jokingly responded, "My car. Ha! But seriously, folks, I wanted to work for a balanced school that prioritized student organizations as part of the educational experience. UW-Whitewater was the main school I had in mind when I decided to become a professor, and rather than find a school "like" Whitewater, I was able to come here."
When asked about his favorite part about UW-W, he said, "I love working with my students in Pi Sigma Epsilon and the marketing honor students in Mu Kappa Tau. It's great to see students challenging themselves and working to get better. My second favorite part is when they come back after graduation and show how amazing they've become and how much of their experience here they are applying in their careers and lives." One thing he said he has learned from students is that "instructors have a lot of opportunities to make a difference with students, and sometimes, we don't realize how big of an impact we're making on a young person's life at the time that it's happening. There have been a few times when I've talked to students after what didn't seem like a big deal, and I find through the discussion that what we did or worked on gave them a very new perspective or changed how they approached something fundamental. I'm quite humbled when I can see that I've had a positive impact on a student."
Some fun facts about Rob are that he loves to play the electric guitar very loudly and likes to dabble with AI art. One of his bucket list items is to go to Belgium.
