St. Mary of the Woods School Celebrate the legacy of 135 Years of Catholic education at St. Mary of the Woods School! St. John Kelly as its first teacher.

Mary of the Woods School is one of seven parochial schools in the Diocese of Owensboro, Kentucky. The first resident pastor of the Parish in 1878, Reverend Kyron King, founded the school in 1879, and hired Mr. Since 1882 Franciscan Sisters, Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, and now Ursuline Sisters ministered in the school over a 132-year history of serving the parish needs for Catholic education. Today, this rural setting is school for children in preschool through grade 8. Mary of the Woods School is accredited by the Kentucky Non-Public School Commission and is a member of the National Catholic Education Association.

Free sports physicals for students entering grades 6-12 at Mary Carrico Catholic School, St. Mary of the Woods School, and Trinity High School, Whitesville, KY will be offered June 24 from 1-5 p.m. at the Horn Community Center in Whitesville, thanks to Ohio County Healthcare. Students under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
