Contemplating our seniors as they prepare for their first “last day” of high school…

How did we arrive here so quickly?

And then there is Oliver, who has been part of Boone Prairie School since the second grade. Oh my, how the time has flown! From those early elementary days to senior year, we have watched him and all of our seniors learn, grow, lead, persevere, and become remarkable young adults.

This year will be filled with lasts, but it will also be filled with new beginnings, treasured memories, and excitement for everything God has prepared for them beyond Boone Prairie.

And yes, Oliver, we will finally open the time capsule this year. ❤️

Are you reading this at 6:00 a.m. on a Monday…while mentally preparing to get everyone out of bed, dressed, fed, packed, and out the door for school? 😴

Pssst… Boone Prairie kids are still sleeping. 😉

We don’t begin our 2026–27 school year until September 1 and even after school starts, Mondays and Tuesdays look a little different around here. Boone Prairie students learn at home on Mondays and Tuesdays and come to campus Wednesday through Friday.

That means:

Less Monday-morning rushing
More sleep for growing kids and teens
Two days of learning at home
Three focused days on campus
More time together as a family

We believe children can receive an excellent education without every weekday beginning with an alarm clock and a mad dash out the door. If your family is looking for a different rhythm this school year, come see Boone Prairie School.

What makes Boone Prairie different for middle and high school students?

At Boone Prairie, these years are not treated as something students simply need to survive. They are formative years when young people are discovering what they believe, developing their character, and preparing for adulthood. Our students are known. Teachers recognize their strengths, notice when they are struggling, and expect them to participate, not disappear into the back of a crowded classroom.

They receive:

*Strong academics grounded in truth, beauty, critical thinking, discussion, writing, and a biblical worldview

*A hybrid schedule that combines meaningful classroom instruction Wednesday through Friday with guided learning at home on Monday and Tuesday

*A phone-free school day where students talk, laugh, debate, play games, read, and build genuine friendships

*Opportunities to speak and lead through discussions, presentations, clubs, service, entrepreneurship, and school events

*Individualized high school planning, including honors courses, dual credit, college preparation, internships, trade exploration, and scholarship guidance

*Time to move and breathe, with recess and breaks continuing through high school

*Real community across grade levels, where students are encouraged to welcome others rather than build social hierarchies

Students are expected to tell the truth, complete their work, contribute to their community, accept correction, and grow from their mistakes. We are not only preparing students to pass classes, we are preparing them to become thoughtful, capable, faithful young adults who can communicate well, work hard, serve others, and continue learning throughout their lives.

Middle and high school can be different.

“But my child is going into the trades. Why do they need all of that?”

Because the trades are not an easy way out of learning. They are a serious, skilled, valuable career path and they require far more than knowing how to use a tool.

A successful electrician, welder, plumber, carpenter, mechanic, HVAC technician, contractor, or other skilled professional needs to be able to:

Think critically.
Solve problems.
Learn new technology.
Understand measurements and mathematics.
Read complicated instructions and technical information.
Communicate clearly with customers and coworkers.
Show up on time.
Keep commitments.
Take responsibility.
Adapt when something doesn't go according to plan.

And someday? They may need to read a contract, prepare an estimate, manage employees, understand finances, market a business, negotiate with customers, or lead an entire company.

That is exactly why education still matters. At Boone Prairie School, we don't believe every student needs to take the same path after graduation. Some will attend a four-year university and some will pursue apprenticeships, technical programs, certifications, entrepreneurship, or skilled trades.

ALL of them need to know how to learn. That is one of the greatest gifts of a classical education: we are not simply trying to fill students with information they can repeat on a test.

We are preparing them to become lifelong learners who are adaptable, accountable, reliable, thoughtful, and capable.

Choosing a trade because you are talented, interested, and called to that work? Wonderful.

Choosing a trade because “I don't like school, so I won't need to learn anymore”? That is a misunderstanding of what a skilled trade actually requires.

We should hold our future tradesmen and women to a high standard, not a lower one.

Their work builds our homes, keeps our communities running, solves real problems, and creates tremendous opportunities for those willing to master their craft.

College is not the only path to success, but learning is part of every path to success.

Sometimes it only takes a few days back at school to know.
Your child comes home discouraged and they aren’t excited about what they are learning. You find yourself questioning the environment, the expectations, the influences or simply wondering whether this is really the right place for your family.

Choosing a school is a big decision, and sometimes you don’t know whether it is the right fit until the school year actually begins.
At Boone Prairie School, we want parents to feel confident about who is teaching their child, what they are being taught, and the values surrounding them each day.

If you have been praying about a change, come visit us. It is not too late to choose a different path for this school year.

You still have time to make a change for this school year, but the window is getting smaller.

If you have been considering Boone Prairie School and hoping to use Indiana’s Choice Scholarship, now is the time to call. Families who complete the process during the first enrollment period may still qualify for a full-year Choice Scholarship award, but that opportunity ends at the beginning of September.

Don’t spend the next several months wondering, “What if we had made the change?” Come see what makes Boone Prairie different:

A Christ-centered education
Strong academics and high expectations
A love of faith, freedom, responsibility, and country
Small classes where students are truly known
A hybrid model that keeps families involved in their child’s education

Your child is back in school…but something just doesn’t feel right.

Maybe nothing is terribly wrong but you keep wondering:

Is this really where God has called our family to be?
Is your child known? Are they being challenged?
Are the values being reinforced at school the same values you are teaching at home? Are they growing not only academically but in character, responsibility, faith, and confidence?

Starting the school year somewhere does not mean you have to stay there if you know it isn’t the right fit. It is not too late to make a change.

At Boone Prairie School, we believe education should prepare students for much more than a test. We want them to know truth, think deeply, work hard, serve others, and understand the responsibility that comes with the freedom they have been given.

If you have that feeling that God may be calling your family to something different, come see us.

Sometimes the right school is worth making a change for.
