Our Foundation is continuing its efforts to raise $50,000 to purchase Chromebooks for all schools in Letcher County. We are over half way there. Now is a great time to make a tax free donation. The Foundation is pleased to announce that we have four $500 scholarships to give away to seniors at Letcher County Central High School. Applications can be picked up in the Guidance Office at the school and are due by May 1, 2019.

The Letcher County Schools Education Foundation is a non-profit organization that was created to raise funds to support the arts and facilities in Letcher County Schools. Since its inception in 2005, the Foundation has been instrumental in providing funds for art performances, technology equipment, drama productions, scholarships, and the Letcher County Area Technology Center classrooms among many other things. In order to continue to support the students of Letcher County, we need your help.

The Letcher County Public School System prides itself in ensuring that students are provided a quality education and being competitive in a high-tech world after graduation. With a current graduation rate of 97.9 % and a transition rate of 77.8%, our county surpasses the state average, but we want more. We want every child to graduate on time and be either academic or career ready. For this to happen, we need your help. Because of your help and others, we were able to reach our last fundraising goal and purchased the equipment to upgrade the Wi-Fi in all our schools. Now that we have the capacity, we need devices for our students.

Consequently, the Board of Directors has taken on a new fundraising endeavor. We have set a new goal of raising $50,000.00 to purchase devices for the students of Letcher County. Your support for this endeavor would be greatly appreciated. Any donations are tax deductible and checks can be made out to the “Letcher County Education Foundation.” We truly appreciate your support for providing the children of Letcher County the best education possible.
