Just because a mare doesn’t foal by 340 days, doesn’t mean she is “overdue”.
Mares don’t have actual due dates. They have an average gestation of 340, but it is the average because mares can go anywhere between 320 and 380 days (or even longer). 350-360 is very normal, especially when you aren’t messing with their system.
There is zero need to panic just because a mare is 350 or more days 😅🤦🏼♀️
Is it annoying when they go that long? Sure. That still doesn’t mean they are overdue.
Mare’s do not get induced just because they have hit 340 days. It is extremely risky to induce mares due to foal needing to be in the absolute correct position for the birth process.
