Ever wonder how hot a homemade solar oven can actually get?

We put a simple solar oven to the test — and watched the temperature climb using nothing but energy from the Sun!

It’s a fun, easy way to see reflection, absorption, and thermal energy in action.

Can you make a tornado with just TWO bottles and DUCT TAPE?

You sure can — and there’s some pretty cool science happening inside those bottles!

In our newest Cat’s Science Club Short, we’ll show you how to make your own tornado tube without buying a special connector. Then watch what happens when we give the bottles a spin and create an awesome water vortex!

Why does the water suddenly move so much faster when it starts spinning? Watch closely and you’ll find out!

This is a fun, simple science activity to try at home or in the classroom.

If you make one, post a picture or let us know how your tornado turned out!

With the eclipse coming up, we wanted to share a really simple way for kids and families to safely watch what happens to the Sun!

We just made a short video showing how to build an easy pinhole Sun viewer using a cardboard tube and a few things you probably already have around the house.

The really cool part is that you are NOT looking at the Sun through the viewer. The tiny pinhole actually projects an image of the Sun inside the tube. During the eclipse, you'll be able to watch that little circle change shape as the Moon moves across the Sun.

It's a quick project and a great one to make with kids before the eclipse.

I put the full 1-minute build on my Cat's Science Club YouTube channel here:

https://youtube.com/shorts/-ErIEVZIPrc

Please feel free to share it with other parents, teachers, or families who might want to make one!

And most importantly — never look directly at the Sun.

Have you ever wondered **how a compass always knows which way is north?** 🧭

It's not magic—it's science!

In this quick video, you'll discover why a compass needle moves and how Earth's magnetic field guides it. It's a simple experiment that reveals an amazing force you can't even see.

🎥 Watch here:

**Question:** Before watching, can you explain *why* a compass points north? I'd love to hear your answer in the comments!
