Cordeajah is a senior at Otterbein University and an aspiring attorney. Vanessa is a seasoned attorney and Senior Director at Groundwork Ohio. From the moment they met, Vanessa knew she wanted to mentor Cordeajah. Their connection was immediate—two kindred spirits brought together by a shared passion for law, leadership, and making an impact.

Cordeajah Ridley, a rising Senior at Otterbein University majoring in criminology and justice studies on the prelaw track, is stepping into her next level of growth with the support of her new mentor.

She is paired with Vanessa Butler, a Capital Law School graduate and the senior director of community relations for Groundwork Ohio. Vanessa is a connector, an advocate, and a mentor who is committed to guiding emerging leaders as they build confidence, clarity, and professional direction.

Together, Cordeajah and Vanessa begin their mentorship pairing with a clear focus on growth, preparation, and real‑world guidance.

This summer, Eliana Ukwuoma a second-year Biology major at Columbus State Community College with dreams of attending dental school, had the opportunity to turn career exploration into real-world experience.

Through Bio+Neuro Futures, Eliana was matched with Dr. Sacheen Garrison, owner of Groveport Smiles, who welcomed her into the dental profession through a two-week shadowing experience.

From observing patient care to learning more about the day-to-day responsibilities of a dentist and practice owner, Eliana gained valuable exposure, insight, and encouragement as she continues preparing for dental school.

This is what mentorship looks like at WrightChoice: connecting students with professionals who help them explore what’s possible, experience the profession firsthand, and build a pathway toward their future.

We are incredibly thankful to the Franklin County Board of Commissioners and its agencies for investing their time, guidance, and resources to provide meaningful workplace exposure for our WrightChoice interns.

This summer, our students had the opportunity to gain valuable experience with the Franklin County Office of Economic Development and Community Development, Office on Aging, and Public Health. Each student truly enjoyed the opportunity to learn, contribute, and build meaningful relationships with their coworkers and leaders.

Thank you to Dir. Chanda Wingo, Tamara R. Hartley, MCM , Dir. Ruchelle Pride, M.S., CDE, CPC, Dr. Anthony Redic, Lisa D. Dent, MPA and Brien Bellous for your continued partnership and commitment to creating opportunities for young people.
