There is something very special about our little school, and what that special thing is was very much on display at Awards Chapel last week.
We may point not to one thing, though, but many:
Our teachers, who have a deep love for each and every WCA Student. WCA is a safe place to learn and grow and flourish, as Mrs. Broughton reminded us, and it's been that way due to our dedicated faculty & staff. Mrs. Lynda Morrison has wholly personified the longevity of that commitment to love and nourish young souls; she has markedly impacted countless WCA students. We will miss her very much, yet her influence will live on here at the Academy. Mr. Moyer, too, has been an excellent example, having been selflessly devoted to the many unseen little things that truly add up. In that spirit, he and our entire team of staff have made possible the fullness of learning we enjoy at WCA.
And our students, who strive for excellence in the complete sense of that word. They seek not scores, medals or applause, but truth, beauty and goodness, found most completely in the risen Christ, Lord of all. When the WCA student graduates, though, he is not perfect. But he knows that. What begins at WCA is a lifelong pursuit of what really matters.
And so, the heart of WCA cannot be summed up in one simple way.
Our school is the imperfect mix of many minds, hearts and souls that yearn to be shaped by what is eternally noble and good in our studies and in our relationships, all which find their perfect expression in God Himself.
May He continue to form our school community into the likeness of His Image, and may He do so today, tomorrow and in the years to come.
