Wonder what a day in the life of our school is like for our Owls and younger Larks (K-2)?!

Students start their day with a morning lap to ignite their brain for learning. All classes start with a homeroom or morning meeting to connect as a community and go over their class agreements.

Social emotional learning is taught both in explicit lessons and embedded throughout the day.

Students have a balance of explicit teaching as well as inquiry learning through our projects. Projects are centered around what’s happening in our community and place now including: learning about sticks as tools or toys, economics of buying local, and simple machines to make a modern homestead successful.

Throughout the day students are outside, connecting to nature, and learning about the world around them.

What day in the life do you want to see next?!

The Skola’s mission is to inspire students to become thoughtful change makers and stewards of both the land and their community.

Our school staff, community, and students practice living by our four pillars of school, self, nature, and community. Our students’ learning is not confined to the four walls of a classroom, with academics grounded in nature and the local community. Students are able to connect curiosity to real-world context and discover that learning is relevant, meaningful, and alive.

Our four pillars support students learning to learn, supporting the self, connecting to the community, and nature.

What pillar do you want to learn more about?

What is the Hygge Harvest Festival? 🍂

The Skola’s inaugural event is an opportunity for our community to visit The Skola, experience what a forest school education offers to people of all ages, and to support our work as a non-profit community school.

One way to support our school is by purchasing raffle tickets! Our Skola community has gathered amazing items to fill baskets for the raffle. When you purchase raffle tickets you can decide which basket you want your tickets to be in. You do not need to be present to win!

Which basket are you hoping for?!

The Hygge Harvest Festival is a way for us to connect to the community and share our partners with you!

We are so excited to welcome Abundant Montana, The Making Place, and Two Bear Therapeutic Riding Center at our October 10th event.

Abundant Montana is on a mission to fill every plate with local food for an abundant Montana future. Our 4th grade students partnered with them last year to learn about energy and food miles. What does it take to get food to our plates?

The Making Place is a local makerspace that offers its members access to professional level tools, equipment, and workshop space. We partnered with them for their annual Harvest Moon Fest that took place in September and worked together to do a summer camp based around puppet making last summer!

Two Bear Therapeutic Riding Center is a non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of those with special needs through social development, emotional, and physical therapies, and equine-assisted activities. For the last three years, our 1st graders have partnered with Two Bear during our animals project.

Only six days until the event!

Which community partner are you excited to see?!
