1,345 students. One BIG celebration of reading!

Our annual Read Across America – Texas Style event brought stories to life for K–5 students, connecting them to books filled with cowboys, astronauts, adventure, history, and imagination. 🤠🚀

From the wide-open Texas plains to outer space, students explored new worlds through reading — and we loved every moment of it!

Thank you to everyone who helped make this inspiring day possible. Here’s to growing readers across the world!

Teachers, we’ve got exciting news! The Alamo has officially joined Connect2Texas, expanding access to engaging virtual learning programs for K–12 students. Classrooms everywhere can now connect with one of Texas’s most iconic historic sites—no field trip bus required.

Be sure to register for their special living history experience on March 6 that marks the 190th anniversary of the Battle of the Alamo.

Crabs have compound eyes and they’re on eyestalks! This allows them to see almost 360 degrees around them. Crabs have so many other unique adaptations too!

Join us on December 17th for “Crabs: Structures and Functions” where we’ll learn all about crab anatomy and some of the adaptions Texas crab species have. If we’re lucky, we may have a few guests join us!

To register, visit https://connect2texas.net/ and click on the “Events” tab. Select “Texas Parks and Wildlife Department” as the content provider in the filter. All programs are FREE and TEKS aligned. Registration closes one week before the scheduled program.
