🤝 First Impressions Start with a Handshake!

6th grade students in Mrs. Solis’ Pathways to Success class put an important life skill into practice—handshake etiquette!

From eye contact and confidence to a firm handshake and a friendly introduction, students learned how small details can make a big difference when meeting someone for the first time.

These Bears are already building the skills they’ll use far beyond the classroom! 💙🐻

📚⏰ Every Minute Matters! 🐻

Every day in school is an opportunity for our students to learn, grow, and succeed. That’s why we encourage families to make the most of every minute of instructional time and plan vacations and appointments around the school calendar whenever possible.

✈️🌴 Our WSISD Vacation Planning Calendar makes it easy to see school breaks and plan family time without missing valuable learning days.

📅 Plan ahead. Be present. Make every minute count! 🚀🐻

🎨🧠 Art Meets Brain Power!

Students in Mrs. Amrine's Art 1 class practiced letting go of perfectionism through a Bilateral Mirror Drawing exercise with a partner or small group.

Students used both hands simultaneously to create symmetrical and mirrored designs, taking turns leading and following their partner’s movements. This creative exercise engages both sides of the brain while helping build focus, coordination, collaboration, and confidence.

We love seeing our Bears discover that art isn’t always about perfection—it’s about creativity, connection, and the process! 🎨🐻💙

💙 BMS Families — Meet Highfive! 🖐️

This year, we’re using Highfive to help build a positive, connected school community where students are recognized for making great choices and supported when they need help getting back on track.

Highfive helps us celebrate positive behavior, provide real-time coaching, and maintain consistent expectations across campus — all while keeping relationships at the heart of what we do. 💙🐻

Take a look at the flyer to learn more about how Highfive works and what it means for your child!

➕➖ Math in Action! 📍

6th grade mathematicians in Mrs. Lopez's and Ms. Simpson's classes were busy learning how to represent and compare positive and negative integers on a number line! Students used number lines to build a stronger understanding of where integers are located and how their values relate to one another.

We love seeing our Bears thinking, discussing, and making sense of math together! 💙🐻📚
