With more than 70 years of providing craft education to the Upper Valley, CraftStudies has opened its new studio space in White River Junction. The 2,500-square foot studio serves as a community hub for craft education in clay, fiber, metals, and more. The newly outfitted clay studio features 8 pottery wheels, ample space for hand-building and instruction, hundreds of glaze options, and 2 electric kilns. The fiber studio has modular furniture for parties and programs in basketmaking, bookmaking, broommaking, natural dying, felting, sewing, and more. The metals studio features 8 jewelry benches, expanded soldering stations, and a mini TIG welder. Located at 87 Maple Street in White River Junction, CraftStudies offers free on-site parking, is walkable from downtown White River Junction, and is on Advanced Transit’s Green and Yellow Lines.

Last night’s reception for “Continuing Her Craft: Jewelry Inspired by Susan M. Gallagher” was truly unforgettable.

Here are four of the metalsmiths featured in the exhibition, alongside Susan’s husband, David, and son, Eric. From left: Kerstin Nichols, Sandra Seymour, Kim Gaddes, David, Eric, and Rosemary Orgren.

It was heartwarming to see so many of you come to celebrate Susan’s artistry, legacy, and the love she inspired in our community.

The exhibition is open through February 23rd.

‘Twas the night before Market, and all through the studio,
The vendors were bustling (what on earth rhymes with studio?!).
The pottery was glazed and placed with great care,
In hopes that kind shoppers soon would be there.

The jewelry sparkled and shimmered with light,
Each piece a creation, a joy to delight.
Scarves, hats, and yarn of colors so bright,
Lay ready to charm at morning’s first light (well… 10AM).

Block prints were nestled in bundles with tags,
Next to stitched aprons and handcrafted tote bags.
Glass vases and ornaments shone,
Each one unique, a style of its own.

So rise, merry shoppers, and join the affair,
For the Market’s a place of wonder to share.
Support every maker, each craft and design,
For treasures like these are one of a kind!
