Frederick County Public Schools Social Media Terms and Conditions

The purpose of the Frederick County Public Schools (“FCPS”) official social media platforms is to provide information about our schools and public education generally in a timely and efficient manner. The following social media terms and conditions apply to any official FCPS social media page, including official social media pages

of any of its schools. For all posts made on and after September 20, 2024: Beginning September 20, 2024, FCPS official social media platforms will no longer allow commenting on posts. In the event a post inadvertently allows comments, once staff is aware the commenting capability will be removed as well as any comments that are made on the post. For any comments made on posts that were posted before September 20, 2024: In the event that comments are made to posts that were posted prior to September 20, 2024, those comments will be reviewed and removed, if necessary, pursuant to the below terms. Please note that official FCPS social media pages may not be regularly monitored and FCPS encourages anyone with specific questions or concerns involving a school matter to contact their school principal or the Director of Media and Communications (“Director”). Public comments expressed on FCPS social media pages do not reflect the opinions and position of the Frederick County School Board, FCPS, and its schools, officers and employees. Comment Removal
Recognizing that students use and access official FCPS social media platforms, FCPS expects those who engage with FCPS social media platforms to serve as role models to students and engage in civil, appropriate commentary. As a result, FCPS reserves the right to remove comments made on FCPS posts that contain:

-Conduct that violates the terms and conditions of the applicable social media platform (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
-Illegal conduct or encouragement of illegal activity
-Content that promotes, fosters, or perpetuates prohibited discrimination, harassment, and/or retaliation
-Conduct that is threatening, inciting, harassing, or bullying
-Content that is unrelated to the original FCPS post
-Content that violates a legal ownership interest of any other party, such as copyright or trademark infringement
-Information that is false
-Content that compromises the safety or security of FCPS, any of its schools, staff, or students
-Personnel information, individually identifiable student information, or other confidential material
-Profane language or content
-Promotions of services or products
-Promotions of political candidates or organizations
-Sexual harassment or sexual content
-Solicitations of commerce or advertisements including promotion or endorsement
-Spam or comments that include links to external online sites
-Conduct that is otherwise in violation of School Board policies or that reasonably may lead to the substantial disruption of or material interference with FCPS school operations

Comments in violation of these terms and conditions may be removed from the applicable FCPS official social media platform. Continued or egregious violations may prompt FCPS to further restrict an individual’s commenting on official FCPS social media platforms. FCPS will not remove content simply because it disagrees with the user’s viewpoint or the user criticizes FCPS. Comment Removal Procedure
The FCPS social media platforms are administered by designated staff. When designated staff suspect a violation of these terms and conditions, the Director will be notified and will review and authorize removal of a comment when appropriate. Upon finding a violation, the Director will make a reasonable effort to contact the individual commenter to give notice of the violation and the removal of their commentary. Appeals regarding the Director’s decision to remove a comment or to take further action for repeated violations of these terms and conditions may be submitted via e-mail to the Assistant Superintendent for Administration within two calendar days. Individuals should be aware that their comments may be subject to the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and records retention requirements. FCPS may be obligated to retain public comments in its records and/or disclose the information if requested. Official FCPS Social Media Pages include, but are not limited to, those pages identified on the FCPS website.

🧮 MATHCOUNTS — COMPETITIVE MATH CLUB

Do you enjoy math, problem-solving, and friendly competition? MathCounts may be the club for you!

MathCounts is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students who enjoy math and problem-solving. Students will prepare for a school competition in January, where a four-person team will be selected to represent Aylor at the Regional Competition in early February. Four additional alternates may also participate in the Regional Competition.

💚💛 Maybe you've already seen his face on the Frederick County Public Schools Facebook Feed, but we'd like to give a big Spartan welcome to Brandon Washington, our new Dean of Students! 💛💚

Brandon joins the Aylor family with eight years of teaching experience. For the past eight years, he taught Spanish at James Wood High School. He is a graduate of Christopher Newport University and Shenandoah University, and we are excited to welcome his experience, enthusiasm, and passion for learning to Robert E. Aylor Middle School!

A few fun facts about Brandon:
🥾 He enjoys hiking and exploring new areas.
📚 He loves reading nonfiction and learning about different cultures.
🎶 He enjoys playing instruments and listening to live music.

Hope everyone had a GREAT start to the 2026-2027 school year!

Help us give a big Spartan welcome to three more members of the Robert E. Aylor Middle School family! 💚💛 We are excited to welcome Emma Hunter, Tinathan Lewis, and Debora Richardson to the Spartan team!

💚 Welcome, Emma Hunter — Health & P.E. 6–8

Emma is beginning her teaching career, and we are thrilled that she chose Aylor! She earned both her bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and master's degree in Teaching from James Madison University, with concentrations in Health and Physical Education.

A few fun facts about Emma:
🏫 She was once a student right here at Robert E. Aylor!
🕷️ Her favorite superhero is Spider-Man.
👧 She loves spending time with her daughter and family.
🌊 She enjoys going to the lake, taking long walks, reading, watching movies, and spending time outdoors.

💚 Welcome, Tinathan Lewis — Instructional Assistant

Tinathan joins Aylor after an impressive 40-year career with the USDA Forest Service! After retiring from the Forest Service, Tinathan began working in education as a substitute teacher, eventually leading to a full-time position in the school system. We are excited to have Tinathan as part of our Spartan team!

A few fun facts about Tinathan:
🍫 Her favorite food is chocolate, and her favorite drink is chocolate milk.
🍕 She is definitely not a fan of pizza!
🧶 She enjoys reading, counted cross-stitch, knitting, and various crafts, especially making wreaths.
❤️ She enjoys using school breaks to travel and spend time with family and friends who live outside of Virginia.

💚 Welcome, Debora Richardson — Math 6

Debora brings seven years of teaching experience to Aylor! She previously taught middle school Science and Math for students in grades 6–8 at Northwestern Regional Educational Programs. We are excited to have Debora's experience and passion for learning as part of our Math team!

🏃 She ran the Disney Marathon in 2006!
✍️ She is a published poet.
🏕️ She enjoys camping, spending time with family, cooking, and baking.

Today was a special day at Robert E. Aylor Middle School as we welcomed our newest Spartans for Transition Day! 💚💛

Our incoming sixth graders spent the day getting comfortable in their new school and getting familiar with some important Aylor routines and expectations. They also enjoyed lunch with their new classmates and wrapped up the day with a special pep rally! 🎉

A huge thank-you to Coach Loveless and the Aylor Cheer Squad for performing at the pep rally and showing our newest Spartans what Spartan SpeaRRR-it is all about:

💚💛 What a Great Day to be a Spartan! 💛💚

A huge thank you to all of the parents, guardians, and students who joined us yesterday for Green & Gold Day and Meet the Teacher! It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces and the excitement as our Spartans explored the building, walked their schedules, met their teachers, and prepared for an amazing school year.

We'd also like to extend a special thank you to the Aylor PTSO for treating our staff to a delicious dinner, courtesy of Anthony's Pizza on Warrior Drive and Martin's of Stephens City. Your continued support of our staff and school is truly appreciated!

Finally, thank you to our fantastic food vendors—Wyatt's Lemonade & Dirty Sodas, 3 Fires Wood-Fired Pizza, and Kona Ice—for helping make the evening even more enjoyable for our Spartan families.

The countdown is almost over! We look forward to welcoming our incoming 6th grade Spartans on Tuesday, August 11, for Transition Day and all of our FCPS students back on Wednesday, August 12, for the first day of the 2026–2027 school year.

Help us give a big Spartan welcome to four more amazing educators joining the Robert E. Aylor Middle School family! We are excited to welcome Tyler Wilt, Stefanie Rucker, Mary Howley, and Alex Bowersox to the Spartan team!

💚 Welcome, Tyler Wilt — Math 7/8

Mr. Wilt joins Aylor with eight years of middle school math teaching experience from Hedgesville Middle School in Berkeley County, West Virginia. This will be his ninth year as a middle school math teacher, and we are excited to have him share his experience and passion for math with our Spartans!

A few fun facts about Mr. Wilt:
🐻 He has had cats and dogs, but if he could have any pet, he would choose a bear or a big cat like a lion or cougar!
🎹 He enjoys playing piano, reading, watching TV, camping, and playing video games.
✈️ He loves traveling with his wife and three children.

💚 Welcome, Stefanie Rucker — 6th Grade Science

Ms. Rucker brings 20 years of teaching experience to the Aylor family! Most recently, she taught high school biology and environmental science at Millbrook High School. We are thrilled to have her bring her knowledge and love of science to our 6th grade Spartans!

A few fun facts about Ms. Rucker:
☕ She cannot start her day without an iced coffee!
🐾 Before becoming a teacher, she was a Veterinary Technician.
🌊 She loves water sports and activities, spending time at Smith Mountain Lake and the beach.
⚾ She spends much of her free time cheering on her son’s travel baseball team.

💚 Welcome, Mary Howley — Language Arts 7

Ms. Howley joins Aylor after teaching 6th grade English at Skyline Middle School in Front Royal for four years. She is excited to become part of the Spartan family, and we are excited to welcome her creativity and enthusiasm to our Language Arts team!

A few fun facts about Ms. Howley:
🎨 If she had won the lottery and didn’t become a teacher, she would be a full-time artist and philanthropist!
📚 She enjoys reading, playing video games, and crafting.
✨ She loves creating a fun classroom atmosphere with good energy, unique earrings, and even a Magic 8-Ball for a little extra inspiration!

💚 Welcome, Alex Bowersox — Language Arts 7

Ms. Bowersox returns to the classroom after spending eight years teaching at Thoreau Middle School in Fairfax County and taking two years to stay home with her children. We are excited to have her back in education and thrilled that she chose to join the Aylor Spartans!

A few fun facts about Ms. Bowersox:
🐄 She is originally from Pennsylvania and grew up on a dairy farm.
🌲 She loves spending time outdoors, including walking, hiking, biking, camping, and picnicking.
🐾 Her family includes her husband, two young children, a labradoodle, and two cats.
