Yesterday, fellow PTA volunteer/class parent, Ambereen Khan, hosted a story and craft time to educate Ms. Barbone's 1st Grade class about Ramadan/Eid-Al-Fitr. The class created 3 dimensional colorful lanterns to symbolize hundreds of years of tradition of the light guiding the way during the month of Ramadan. ✨✨

Greenburgh Central School District PTAs ask you to Vote YES!!! Proposition #1 Approval of Energy Performance Contract with Con Edison to receive 10% New York State Aid

Greenburgh Central School District has negotiated an Energy Performance contract with Con Edison Solutions to make our facilities more energy efficient. The contract includes:

● Upgrading interior and exterior lighting to LED
● Installation of Solar Panels at,
Highview Elementary School (Roof top)
Carport and Battery Energy Storage System at WMHS Football field
● Direct digital control installation and new energy management systems
● Installation or reinstating natural gas services
● Improving air handlers, replacing/rebuilding rooftop units and air handling units for fresh air intake.
● Installation of new water heaters in all schools; new boilers in some schools
● Software installation and timer controls to District computers and air conditioning units.
Total of $21M in improvements: NO ADDITIONAL COST TO THE TAXPAYER!!!
The project is funded by savings on utility bills, rebates from NYS Energy Research and Development Authority, and aid from New York State.

The HES Book Fair starts next Tuesday (11/1) and ends on the 9th. The fair will be open on six days at varying times to accommodate schedules. We can really use your help to set up/clean up, assist students with selections and/or manage transactions. The Book fair will be open from Monday, October 24 - Monday October 31!
Place: Lee F. Jackson Gymnasium
Time: Open daily, Monday, October 24 - Monday, October 31st from 9:30am-3:00pm.
Tuesday, October 25th & Wednesday, October 26th additional evening hours from 4:00pm-7:00pm.

Three ways to shop:
- Create a wish list: You can choose for your child to attend the book fair and create a wish list that they bring home for your review. When they return, they can purchase their books on their Wish list. (Please note that there is no guarantee that the books will be available when they return however we will do our best to accommodate). Remember to indicate what type of book your child is allowed to purchase (example one journal, toy book, etc). This will allow our volunteers help your children pick appropriate books.
- Fund their E-Wallets or give them cash to purchase books on their own. (Our Volunteers will work with the children to purchase age-appropriate books), please also remember to account for tax.
- Shop with your children at the fair (see evening hours). You can also join us on October 31st after the Halloween parade to shop one last time

Message from our superintendent

The lockdown at Woodlands and lockout at the elementary schools were put in place as a precautionary measure. They are lifted and dismissal will occur at regular time at all schools. Students who ride the bus can do so as they normally do and parents who pick up their child can do so at the regular dismissal time. Parents who are currently at Woodlands need to clear the area so busses can enter.

All after school activities in the District are cancelled today. As the investigation is ongoing, we cannot provide additional details.

El Departamento de Policía de Greenburgh está en el lugar de la Escuela Intermedia/Secundaria Woodlands para investigar un incidente. La policía completó un barrido del edificio. No existe una amenaza creíble en el edificio en este momento y no hay ningún problema de seguridad de vida para ningún estudiante ni para el personal.
