Imagine youβre in an empty house and you could do ANYthing with ANYone for 24 hours.
β°
Who would I choose? It's a toss-up for me...
π€·π½ββοΈ
I'd invite the wonderful aunties from Tanzania whom I grew so fond of when I traveled there. We'd have chai tea masala and cookies and laugh and tell stories.
π
I'd also want to invite over my grandmothers and hear their stories and learn from their wisdom.
π
Of course I would also want to welcome over my younger self and I would build her up and tell her that the uncertainty in life that I felt about the right path would eventually heal, and that I would have a beautiful daughter one day.
π©π½
Maybe I would just get my foodie besties together and go to a kick*ss restaurant and order every appetizer we wanted!
π₯
How about you, mama? What would your perfect day look like?

Thereβs just something about summer that sparks my passion and creativity!
ππ½ββοΈ
Iβm really enjoying preparing the menus for my summer cooking camps!

What did you do today?

Summer days got you wondering how youβre gonna get your work done?
ππ½ββοΈ
I feel you, mama!
π¬
Thatβs why Iβm here to make your day brighter with 3 quick tips about cooking with your kids.
ππ½ββοΈ
Step 1: only....
I repeat...ONLY...endeavor to cook with them when you are relaxed, not pressed for time and NOT trying to get a meal on the table.
π²
Step 2: take out all of the ingredients and tools youβll need (and keep them in close proximity to you, not the kids) so you donβt have to turn your back on your ninjas!
π§π½ββοΈ
Step 3: give the kids 1 task at a time, for a maximum of 4-5 tasks in one cooking session.

Tell me, friend: did this help you?

They are watching you. They're in the kitchen observing what you do.
π
You get to mix things and pour them in other things, and then you create even different things just by combining them.
π₯£
And you get to take care of others by doing this thing you call "cooking."
π€²π½
Your kids want in on this action, mama!
π©π½βπ³
They see cooking as magic, and they want to be like you.
π©π½
What stands in the way of you letting them cook in the kitchen?

My daughter would say Iβm silly, and I have to say I donβt disagree. I just might have to add corny and witty to the list! How would your loved ones describe you??

Who are the students in our classes?
π©π½βπ³
They are the kids who are curious about touching different textures.
π€²π½
Also, they are the kids who are concerned about the way certain foods feel on their hands.
π
Either way is fine, and we understand and provide solutions for both of these preferences!

Do your little chefs seek out or shy away from new sensations in their hands?

Guys! My heart and my brain is so happy it's the weekend!
ππ½ββοΈ
This has been the busiest week of the year so far with so many amazing things that have taken ALL of my brain cells and my energy.
π€·π½ββοΈ
I met a friend for a coffee brainstorming sesh yesterday and I forgot to tell the barista that I wanted my chai latte with almond milk.
βοΈ
We went to First Village Coffee, home of THE best chai lattes on the planet, and I couldn't drink the one I ordered because I forgot to mention that ONE little thing. Non-dairy.
π€¦π½ββοΈ
The owner hooked me up with a frothy black tea with almond milk but I was so embarrassed and felt so silly for forgetting something so important that I couldn't bring myself to order another chai latte. I ONLY ever get chai lattes with almond milk - super duh!

My girl, Kerry, saved the day because she fell in love with the chai latte I ordered and now our fave cafe has another fan of chai lattes!

Whatβs your plan for the day, friends?
06/11/2019
I am a morning person, and I'm that annoying person who LOVES mornings. But...early bird that I am, oddly, if I wake up before 6 AM, major brain fog follows me around all day like a clingy cat.
β°
Yesterday, I woke up around 5 AM, and took some time to journal and contemplate how I wanted my day to go. I use this time to understand my feelings and try to sort out the fact from the fiction.
ππ½ββοΈ
I had a wonderful day at the Jr. Chef Experience event I worked over the weekend. And I knew I had to keep things simple today because Iβm tired. My overtaxed brain couldn't even think of delicious dishes to make with the 10 pounds of strawberries I had left over from the event.
π
Come 7 am, it was time to wake my girl who woke up very unhappy due to a sore throat. Out went the to-do list, because she is my priority. Soon I found myself with 2 hours to 8 hours of work...
π©π½
3 cups of caffeinated tea later, we both made it through the day. What helps you when you have a day that zigs when you want to zag?

When you get to hang out with some of your fave mamas and witness little chefs preparing healthy fruit snacks βall by themselves,β you say it was a great day....β€οΈπ©π½βπ³π©π½βπ³π¨π½βπ³π¨π½βπ³β€οΈ

I know it's almost summer, and I know we aren't supposed to eat soup when it's hot out.
π€·π½ββοΈ
But I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't eat a big bowl of Ramen any time of year!!
