Mrs. Dewees’ K4 students are building more than just puzzles! They’re building the skills they’ll need for handwriting. Using interlocking puzzle pieces, our little learners created the first letter of their names while strengthening their fingers and developing those important fine motor skills.

🌳☀️ Gilbert Run 2026 🎣🏐

What better way to wrap up the first week of school than with a day at the park! Our secondary students enjoyed our annual Gilbert Run trip, taking time to reconnect with old friends, make new ones, and build community. From fishing and paddle boats to a friendly game of volleyball, our Mustangs had a blast enjoying the day together!

We’re excited to watch these friendships and connections grow throughout the year.

First Week ✔️

What a great first week! Our classrooms were buzzing with new friendships, teamwork, problem-solving, and plenty of fun as students learned expectations and started building their classroom communities.

🔤 1st grade refreshed ABC order with letter tiles.

🧸 2nd grade put their teamwork and creativity to the test building with gummy bears and toothpicks.

👀 3rd grade mingled, found partners, discovered they have no blue-eyed classmates, and practiced deciding which problems they can solve themselves and which need a teacher’s help.

🧊 5th Grade worked together to melt the ice with a fun team challenge.

🏗️ Secondary students got to know one another, discovered what they have in common, and built index-card structures together!

From icebreakers to hands-on challenges, our teachers found creative ways to help students connect, communicate, collaborate, and feel at home in their classrooms.

A little encouragement goes a long way!❤️

Our SGA officers placed handwritten Bible verses on the lockers of our secondary students for them to discover as they began their first day.

What a thoughtful and heartwarming way to remind one another of God’s Word and encourage our Mustang family as we kick off a new school year!

We’re so thankful for student leaders who choose to lead with kindness, faith, and encouragement.

Please join us in welcoming our newest teachers to the Mustang herd! 🐴

Last week, our new teachers gathered for New Teacher Orientation—a wonderful time of learning, connection, and discovering what makes SMCA such a special place. We loved hearing their hearts and excitement as they begin this new chapter with us!

Here’s what a couple of our new teachers had to say:
