āØI know you have heard of a Birth Plan, but have you heard of Post Partum Plan? ⨠Post Partum Plans are a pre planned guide on extra support structures during those first few days/weeks. Planning ahead and leaning on friends and family, is a great way to relieve some stress during the first few weeks after your new joy comes home.
šDo you have family members or friends reaching to āsee if you need anythingā, but you never know what to tell them? Or say the obligatory āno, Iām fine thank you!ā ā¦
š„This is a PERFECT way to utilize your VILLAGE!
š„Meal Trainš„
Want to make sure you donāt get 6 lasagnas in one week? Organize a text chain (OR pass this duty to your partner, best friend, etc) between close friends to help organize who is making what meal! Making sure you eat healing, nutrient rich food is the best way to heal your body and recover quickly. Space out the meals to get one before birth, or in the weeks following to keep things freshš„¦BONUS TIPš„¦- send out links of recipes youāve chosen in advance, to make it even easier!
š«Sibling Support š«
Sometimes the splitting of attention can make other child feel excluded or unseen. Itās ok to feel overwhelmed and need to take bonding time in smaller bites. Prearrange special movie nights, play dates and park playdates with friends! Ask if they can get off the bus at their friends house if in grade school, maybe a lunch play date after Pre K, or Sign up for classes with friends, and arrange carpool to help transport!
š¶Pet Play Datesš±
Of course we all need help acclimating to the new normal, furry siblings included! Pets arenāt immune to the shift in change of the household. Ask for animal play dates, friends taking them for a day or two, or people to come by and walk them! Showering your animals with extra attention and having extra special friends take care of them, is a great way to keep the occupied while you rest!
