The Seeds of Change trip has been an incredible experience for several of our upper school students. They have done so much since our last Costa Rica update including creating and presenting their research proposals, a cooking class, night hike, tour of a butterfly nursery, and horseback riding, among many other things.

A big congratulations to the Yearbook team, led by Staff Advisor, Mrs. Desiree Sams. Jostens, the leading producer of yearbooks and student-created content, has announced that Liberty’s yearbook program has achieved the Jostens National Yearbook Program of Excellence 2026 award at the Bronze Level.

The National Yearbook Program of Excellence recognizes engaging yearbooks that reflect a broad representation of the student body while helping students to develop 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration, and information and communication technologies (ICT) literacy.

Liberty junior and rising senior, Eddie Hanson, was nominated for the Rotary Youth Leadership Camp in April. On June 3rd, he presented at the White Bear Lake Rotary Club to share his thoughts on the sponsorship and opportunity to attend the camp.

Eddie did a fabulous job speaking at this event, and we are so proud of him for sharing about his experience with others.

“As his mom, it’s just encouraging to see him speaking in public so naturally,” says Eddie’s mother, Mary. “The high academic standards Liberty sets really has prepared him for opportunities such as this, and we are so grateful for that.”

We had such a fun time at the Hugo “Good Neighbor Days” parade on Saturday! Thank you to our families who participated in the parade. It was a great morning getting out into our community, seeing familiar faces in the crowds (and new ones!).

There’s still time to sign up to participate in the White Bear Lake parade next Friday, June 19th.

Several upper school students are currently in Costa Rica for the Seeds of Change research trip. During their time there, they have the amazing opportunity to explore the tools and resources God has built into creation.

Students are working in small groups to develop their own research projects and will eventually develop a presentation not only for their Costa Rica cohort, but for their class back at Liberty Classical Academy.

In-between the hands-on research, students are also enjoying some fun hiking, exploring, ziplining, horseback riding, and touring a cacao plantation.

William Gilbert, junior and rising senior, is officially Liberty's first State Champion in any activity in school history!

On Thursday, William took home gold at the MSHSL Class A Track & Field Meet in the men's triple jump, with a mark of 45 feet and 9.25 inches (13.95 meters).

His final three jumps were all over 45 feet, and he bested the 2025 State Champ by 4.75 inches to secure the 2026 title.

"Words cannot express how proud we are of your performance, your growth, AND your dedication to the sport - well done, William!" says Ross Pearson, Liberty Track & Field Coach.
