EMERGING ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: KAMRYN HASTINGS

Meet Kamryn Hastings, one of the talented Emerging Artists joining us at The Phil Maxwell Artists’ & Gourmet Market during Oglebayfest, October 2–4!

For Kamryn, this opportunity brings her artistic journey full circle. She first explored pottery through classes at with us at Oglebay Institute’s Stifel Fine Arts Center when she was younger. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics from West Virginia University in 2024 and launched her own ceramics business in 2025.

Today, Kamryn describes her work with one word: whimsical.
“Creating is my happy place, and I always want others to feel that joy through every piece I create.”

At just 24, Kamryn is also taking an exciting leap—working toward her dream of becoming a full-time artist. She knows building a creative career takes persistence, hard work and connection, but she hopes her journey can encourage other young artists to pursue what they love, too.

For Kamryn, hearing people say that her colorful pottery makes them happy is one of the greatest rewards of sharing her work.

We’re especially excited to welcome Kamryn to our Emerging Artist program—from discovering ceramics at Stifel as a young student to now sharing her own work with thousands of visitors at Oglebayfest!

📸 Take a look at Kamryn and some of her whimsical creations, then come meet her and see her pottery in person.

EMERGING ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: KORI COLLINS

Meet Kori Collins, one of the talented Emerging Artists joining us at The Phil Maxwell Artists’ & Gourmet Market during Oglebayfest, October 2–4!

Kori’s journey with glass began in 2012 when she started learning the art of glassblowing. In 2020, she turned her creative focus to stained glass, developing her skills and building a distinctive collection of handcrafted pieces.

For Kori, participating in Oglebayfest is especially meaningful because of our region’s rich history in glassmaking and the arts.

“As someone who works primarily in glass, I have a deep appreciation for that heritage and the value Oglebay places on artistic excellence and craftsmanship.”

Having attended Oglebayfest as a visitor, Kori has long admired the artists who exhibit at the festival. Now, she’ll have the opportunity to join them—sharing her own work while learning from fellow artists, connecting with the community and continuing to grow her artistic voice.

Kori has previously shared her work at local markets and festivals throughout the region and is now taking the next step toward establishing herself as a professional exhibiting artist.

We’re excited to welcome Kori Collins to this year’s Emerging Artist program.

EMERGING ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: JKB POTTERY

Meet Jillian Blair of JKB Pottery, one of the talented emerging artists joining us at The Phil Maxwell Artists’ & Gourmet Market during Oglebayfest, October 2–4!

Born and raised in Wheeling, Jillian has always viewed Oglebayfest as an important celebration of our region’s creative community—and a place that shows that art is alive and well in Appalachia. This year, she’ll experience the tradition from a new perspective by sharing her own ceramic creations.

Jillian is a self-taught ceramic artist who discovered pottery almost by accident while attending WVU. Looking for a restroom, she wandered into the university’s craft center—and found a creative outlet that would eventually become JKB Pottery.

She describes her work as "Appalachian pottery inspired by simplicity and serenity.”

🎨 And no two pieces are exactly alike. Jillian paints her designs entirely by hand without decals or tracing, giving every creation its own character.

For Jillian, participating in Oglebayfest is also a homecoming of sorts.

“I am drawn to participate in OglebayFest to join this network of artisans and community members, while also offering myself to the community I grew up in with the hope they find the same joy in my ceramic art as I did making it.”

We’re excited to welcome Jillian Blair and JKB Pottery to this year’s Emerging Artist program!

📸 Take a look at some of Jillian’s creations, then come see them in person at Oglebayfest.

EMERGING ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: NOMI SOL

Meet Noelle Adams and Mina Pettit of Nomi Sol, some of the talented emerging artists you’ll find at The Phil Maxwell Artists’ & Gourmet Markets at this year at Oglebayfest, on October 2, 3 & 4!

For Noelle, being part of Oglebayfest is especially meaningful. As a longtime local, she has attended the festival many times with family and friends. Now, she has the opportunity to experience this Wheeling tradition from a whole new perspective—as an artist.

Nomi Sol began in the summer of 2025 from a shared love of creativity, connection and handcrafted design. What started as a creative outlet between friends has grown into a small business creating handmade jewelry that is personal, expressive and unique.

Each piece reflects the artists’ individual styles, backgrounds and creative influences while coming together as one distinctive brand. Their goal is to create thoughtfully made, versatile jewelry that can be worn every day or for a special occasion—and that speaks to a wide range of styles and personalities.

💬 “As longtime locals to the Wheeling area, OglebayFest has always been a meaningful tradition for us to attend with family and friends. The opportunity to participate as artists ourselves feels incredibly special and full-circle.” — Noelle Adams

We’re excited to welcome Nomi Sol to this year’s market and to give emerging local artists an opportunity to share their creativity with our community.

🎄 Supporting the next generation of artists! 🎨

Today, Clark Adams of the Oglebay Woodcarvers Guild presented a $5,000 donation to Keen Owens, Director of the Stifel Fine Arts Center, to help provide scholarships for young aspiring artists participating in Oglebay Institute's Summer Arts Program.

The donation is made possible through the Guild's annual Christmas Tree Raffle. Each year, Guild members hand-carve unique ornaments to decorate a special tree that is raffled to raise scholarship funds for local youth, helping make arts education accessible to more young people in our community.

Beginning in November, a new tree will be on display at the Stifel Fine Arts Center, where raffle tickets can be purchased. You can also visit the Oglebay Woodcarvers Guild booth during Oglebayfest to purchase tickets and learn more about the Guild's incredible craftsmanship.

Thank you to the Oglebay Woodcarvers Guild for investing in creativity, education, and the future of the arts in the Ohio Valley! ❤️
