Community Consolidated School District 21 CCSD21 is a community of schools dedicated to inspiring curiosity, supporting growth, and celebrating the unique strengths of every learner.

We proudly serve families across six communities and believe in learning that lasts a lifetime. Community Consolidated School District 21 is proud to serve students and families in Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Mount Prospect, Northbrook, Prospect Heights and Wheeling. From Pre-K through eighth grade, our schools are places where students learn, grow and build connections with the people and communities around them. After eighth grade, our students continue their education at Buffalo Grove High School or Wheeling High School through Township High School District 214, depending on where they live. We’re proud to be part of these communities and to support our students from their earliest school experiences and beyond.

Small dots, big impact! 🎨

Second- through fifth-grade students at Whitman Elementary School have turned individual creativity into something extraordinary! At the beginning of the school year, students collaborated on a Zentangle Dot Mural, with each student designing a unique, Zentangle-inspired dot filled with patterns, lines and shapes. Zentangle is an art form that uses simple, repetitive patterns to create intricate designs, encouraging creativity, focus and self-expression.

Now, that artwork is reaching beyond our classrooms! The mural is on display at North Park University in Chicago as part of its Teaching Artists exhibit through Nov. 1.

We’re so proud of our Bulldogs and the creativity, teamwork and care they put into this project. What started as individual designs has become something special to share with the community!

The Board of Education has formally approved a resolution to pause redistricting efforts for at least the 2027-28 school year. No boundary changes are planned for that school year.

We will continue to monitor enrollment trends and building capacity, with any future consideration of boundary changes taking place beyond the 2027-28 school year.

In the meantime, district administrators will continue to evaluate building and program needs annually and may consider moving individual programs between schools when appropriate to respond to changing enrollment and space needs.

We appreciate our families and community members who have stayed engaged throughout this process. We remain committed to making thoughtful, data-informed decisions that support our students and schools.

Something wicked this way comes, and the Fairy Tale Unit is on the case! Join us as our talented Jack London Middle School students bring "Law & Order: Fairy Tale Unit" to the stage for a fall play full of fairy-tale twists, unexpected suspects and storybook shenanigans.

It's time to answer the call! Report to London tonight or tomorrow evening for a night of theatrical fun. No ticket required, no evidence necessary — just bring your love of live theater!

Sometimes, the skills that make us great educators begin long before we ever step into a classroom. For Julie Montalbano, years spent working as a waitress taught her the importance of listening, anticipating needs and treating every person with patience and respect — lessons she carries with her every day as a fifth-grade teacher at Twain.

With 20 years in District 21 and 10 years teaching fifth grade at Twain, Julie has built her career around relationships, compassion and making sure every student feels seen, valued and capable.

STATE-BOUND! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Today, we're cheering on 20 middle schoolers from Cooper Middle School and Holmes Middle School who qualified for the IESA State Cross Country Competition this weekend in Normal!

These Cobras and Hornets have put in the work, pushed themselves and made their schools and D21 proud. Now, they’re ready to take on the state’s best!

We’re equally proud of our Jack London Middle School runners, who brought their determination, teamwork and heart to the course this season.

Help us wish our state-bound runners the best of luck this weekend, and join us in celebrating all our D21 athletes for a fantastic season!

A great Tarkington tradition!

Tarkington students, families and staff kicked off Friday with the school’s annual Walk and Bike to School Day! The group started at Horizon Park before making their way down Schoenbeck and Anthony roads and arriving at school, where our partners at the Wheeling Police and Fire Departments were ready with a table full of goodies for participants.

It’s a fun way to promote healthy habits, encourage active transportation and bring the school community together. A big thank-you to everyone who helped make this annual tradition a success, including our friends at the Wheeling Police Department!

We’re excited to share a closer look at the playground and park at Twain! It’s been a pleasure working with our friends at the park district to spotlight the wonderful outdoor spaces that serve our students and community.

A quick reminder!

Monday, October 12, is Indigenous Peoples’ Day and a non-attendance day for all D21 students. All district buildings, including the District 21 Health Center, will be closed.

Indigenous Peoples’ Day recognizes and celebrates the histories, cultures and contributions of Indigenous peoples while honoring their enduring communities and traditions.

We hope everyone in our D21 community enjoys a wonderful three-day weekend!

What a night for our Cooper and London singers!

Seventh- and eighth-grade choirs from these two middle schools took the stage at last night's BGHS Fall Choral Showcase, joining their high school counterparts for one song before taking the spotlight themselves with a beautiful performance of "Amazing" by Pinkzebra.

We're so proud of the confidence, musicianship and joy our students brought to the stage. What a great night of music, and a wonderful opportunity for some of our middle schoolers to share the stage with their future classmates!
