Storing damaged batteries is not recommended. To reduce the risk of fire, bury the battery in a container filled with sand, cat litter, or soil and place it on a non-flammable surface away from all heat sources and other flammable material. Then bring it to a proper facility as soon as possible. Mail-in damaged battery recycling kits are also available for sale through online vendors.

Needles don’t belong in your recycling cart!

SWANCC sponsors a sharps collection program for residents in member communities who administer home injections. Approved sharps containers are provided for safe storage and disposal. Contact your community’s recycling coordinator for details.

Not a SWANCC member community resident? The U.S. EPA recommends placing it in a thick, puncture-proof container with a tight-fitting lid, and labeling it with permanent marker “SHARPS — DO NOT RECYCLE.” Keep it away from children and pets and follow proper disposal guidelines.

Learn more from the U.S. EPA.

Loop has a hot take on trash bags: Keep them out of the recycling cart and keep recyclables loose.👀

Bagging your recyclables can make things harder at the recycling facility. Trash bags can get tangled in sorting equipment and cause the machinery to jam, slowing down the recycling process.

Instead, keep your recyclables loose! Bottles, cans, paper and cardboard should go directly into your recycling cart, DO NOT bag it.

Help Loop keep things moving. Feed the Cart. Keep it loose. ♻️
