Join us in welcoming Officer Struga as our new SRO!

Please join us in welcoming Officer Kasia Struga of the Wheeling Police and Fire Departments as the new school resource officer for the London strand! đź‘‹

Struga will work with students, staff and families at London, Field, Riley and Tarkington throughout the 2026-27 school year, with a focus on building relationships, being a positive presence and supporting students throughout their school experience. Most importantly, she'll also continue serving as a handler for Buddy, the Wheeling Police Department’s therapy and community engagement dog!

We also want to thank Officer Czapla for his service to the London strand. While he’s moving into a new role as one of the SROs at Wheeling High School, we’re glad he’ll still be around our community and look forward to seeing him from time to time!

We're so proud of Ms. Milo-Nicolasin for helping bring donated books to the elementary school she once attended in the Philippines, creating new opportunities for students through the power of reading.

If you were driving along Dundee Road today and thought, "Oh wow, what's a crane doing outside Field?" — you were not alone!

As part of our ongoing summer construction work across the district, our amazing construction crews (and our partners in Nicholas & Associates, Inc.) were hard at work today using a crane to lift materials and supplies onto the elementary school's roof for some scheduled repairs.

Field is one of several schools benefiting from major summer projects across the district. This year, we're investing more than $28.4 million in facility improvements, instructional space renovations and infrastructure upgrades designed to support students for years to come.

Summer may mean a break from classes, but it's one of the busiest times of the year for construction and building improvements as we continue investing in our schools and learning environments for students and staff.

We'll be sharing more highlights from projects happening across the district in the coming days, so stay tuned for a behind-the-scenes look at the work taking place this summer!

It takes a village, and for a few hours this morning, the Field Elementary School community showed up in a big way.

Several PTO members, volunteers and students spent a few hours rolling up their sleeves to clean, w**d, and prepare Mr. Olague’s beloved community garden for a summer of growth. Tucked behind Field Elementary, the garden has been feeding the community – both literally and figuratively – for years, with this season's lineup including sweet and spicy peppers, tomatoes, tomatillos, watermelon, eggplant and corn, along with beautiful wildflowers and hostas to brighten up the space.

A special thank-you goes to former Board of Education member (and Field parent) Staci Allan, who donated $500 to support the garden revitalization effort and another upcoming project at the school. Her contribution is part of an ongoing commitment to fund an up to $500 project at each school quarterly in honor of her parents’ passion for education.

The work doesn't stop here. Future projects for the garden include painting the stone pavers leading into the garden and creating a welcoming painted rock to greet visitors as they enter this special community space.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time, energy and resources to help this special space continue to thrive for our students and community.

As we head into the final stretch of the school year, we're taking a moment to celebrate the incredible dedication of our staff across the district.

Today at Field Elementary School, the Instructional Leadership Team – along with Ms. Shaver and Ms. Thomas – surprised staff with "A Cart Full of Sunshine," a traveling lemonade stand that made its way room to room, serving up fresh lemonade and a few well-deserved smiles along the way.

It's a simple gesture, but a meaningful one. Just one way to say thank you for the care, energy and commitment our staff bring to their students every single day.

We're grateful for all they do, and we’re cheering everyone on as we finish the year strong...with a little extra sunshine mixed in.
