In a digital world where you can get your information from thousands of different sources, we want to make sure our families and guardians feel "in the loop" as we approach back to school season.
We want to break down the HOW and the WHY Ohio County Schools communicates:
🍎Teachers of younger students often use methods like Class Dojo and teachers of upper grades use Schoology for two-way communication with families. Emails exist for every single OCS staff member. This group communicates class-specific events, grades, concerns, and student achievements.
🏫Schools communicate general information through their social media pages as well as occasional take home flyers, newsletters, or school newspapers. Schools also communicate specific information (like events or report card dates) and emergent information through their all-call system. Upper grade levels often post to Schoology as well.
✏️The district communicates general student, staff, and community highlights on their county social media. The district reserves the all-call system for weather related schedule changes (2 hour delay and cancellations), emergency situations, or countywide event updates. The district's web page offers additional information, central office emails, and a community tab for upcoming local events. The district also streams every BOE meeting live on the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month under the OCS YouTube channel. Agendas and minutes are available by checking "OCS Board Docs" and meetings are open to the general public.
