That’s a wrap on our 2025–2026 school year sessions! To say I’m proud of my students would be a huge understatement. They persevered, worked hard, collaborated, had fun, and made tremendous growth throughout the year.

I have so many pictures on my phone that never made it on here, but here are just a few from our final weeks together. ❤️

Summer sessions start in June, and I can’t wait to get started. Bring on the sunshine, summer fun, and learning adventures! ☀️

Tonight, I said goodbye to a student I’ve worked with weekly for five years. As my students move on to high school, our tutoring journey usually comes to an end, since I no longer work with students once they reach that stage. It’s my least favorite part of my job, but also one of the biggest reminders of why I love what I do so much.

Over the past two years, I’ve had to say goodbye to several students I’ve worked with for years as they transitioned into high school, and each time has been incredibly bittersweet.

I have the privilege of working with students for more than just a single school year — sometimes for many years. I get to witness and be part of so much growth during that time. I remember when we started with two one-hour sessions each week, and now we’ve reached a 30-minute check-in once a week. I watch these students grow from elementary school into junior high, and I can confidently say they are ready to soar in high school.

I love it. I am proud of my students in ways I can’t fully express, and I’m always a little heartbroken when our weekly journey comes to an end. But what a journey it has been.

Moments like this also remind me that every child is different. Someone once asked me what the goal of tutoring is, and my answer was simple: it depends on the child.

For some students, the goal is to remediate a skill or fill in a learning gap. Once we accomplish that, my job is done, and the student no longer needs me — which means we succeeded. For others, the journey is longer. We spend time building confidence, creating consistency, and helping them develop a love of learning. Sometimes that growth allows us to step back over time — moving from twice-a-week sessions to once-a-week sessions to help keep students on track.

Every child is different. Every need is different. And when I find families who truly understand my passion for supporting their child’s unique needs, it feels like such a gift.

As school year sessions wrap up this year and I say goodbye to some students and watch them move on to new chapters, I’m reminded again how much I love my job. I love my students, and I’m so grateful that families trust me with them. ❤

Our 1st graders have been busy learning how to compare and contrast! We started by looking at our own lives, and now we’re applying those skills to fairy tales. ✨

Students are continuing to work hard on their writing and math, too. Even with summer around the corner, their effort and enthusiasm haven’t slowed down!

3rd graders are diving into their second novel of the school year! They’ve already shared some wonderful predictions and thoughtful ideas about the story, and I can’t wait to hear how their thinking grows as we continue reading over the next few weeks.

Summer Interest Survey 04/06/2026

My summer interest survey is now out. This is completely optional but if you'd like to give input in what groups are offered this summer as well as what days/times they are offered, please read the latest newsletter and fill out the brief survey.

Just a reminder that filling out a survey does not mean your child is registered. Registration only comes once the summer schedule is set in a few weeks. 😊

Summer Interest Survey Every summer, in addition to individual sessions, I offer a variety of small group sessions in reading, writing, and math. The sessions I offer—and their timing—change each year based on the feedback I receive from families.

4th and 5th graders are diving into one of my all-time favorite books, Rules! We’ve been having such meaningful discussions about the characters, themes, and the “rules” woven throughout the story. I just love this age—when students can engage in thoughtful, insightful conversations about literature.

It’s even more special with such a respectful group of kids who openly share their ideas and truly listen to one another. We’ll be finishing the book next week, and I can’t wait to hear their final thoughts! 💭

I don’t have many pictures, but trust me—the discussions have been incredible! Keep reading, thinking, and growing, my amazing learners! 📕

🍀 Our lucky little learners aren’t getting fooled by any sneaky leprechauns over here! Instead, they’ve been busy working their magic—adding numbers, practicing writing, reading sight words, using their blending boards, rhyming, and so much more.

It’s not luck that’s helping them succeed—it’s their hard work and how incredibly smart they are! These kindergarteners are becoming superstar readers, writers, and mathematicians every single day. ⭐️

Way to go, kindergarten! Keep up the amazing work! 🌈✨

First grade is busy business over here! These students have been working so hard, and as I was looking through these pictures, I was reminded just how much they’ve accomplished over the past few weeks.

They’ve been mastering their addition and subtraction facts up to 20, continuing to build their first-grade sight word fluency, learning how to identify the main idea and details in stories, and even working on syllables. Whew!

Aren’t you tired just reading about everything they’ve been working on? 😊
