Thank you, once again, for a wonderful, busy, and productive summer! I truly loved working with your children and am so grateful for the trust you placed in me.

My sweet second graders, what a wonderful summer we had together!

You worked so hard in book club, especially with this being our first summer reading TWO full novels! You became masters at working with syllables, sequencing, identifying the beginning, middle, and end, determining the main idea & supporting details, and even starting to make inferences!

But one of my favorite parts of this group was watching the friendships grow. These kids loved telling jokes, sharing stories about their own lives, and, of course, talking about the books we read. At different points throughout the summer, every single one of these students stepped up as a leader.

It was so much fun watching each little learner become a leader, a reader, and a friend. ❤️

Have a wonderful start to the school year! I hope I get to keep reading and learning with many of you this school year, too!

My 4th and 5th grade book club was my biggest group this summer, but we had the BEST discussions! I looked forward to talking about our books every week with these kiddos. They knew how to have respectful discussions, share their ideas (even when they had different opinions!), listen to each other, and mostly have so much fun together.

This summer, we worked on characterization, context clues, main idea & details, summarizing, and inferring. These kids pushed through when a book was confusing, asked questions when something didn't make sense, and kept trying. They listened to new ideas, tried new genres, and learned how to support their thinking with evidence from the text.

One of my favorite parts was watching them become more confident in sharing what they thought about a book and explaining WHY they thought it. They didn't always agree with their peers, and that made our conversations even better!

These kids aren't just readers, they are reading ROCKSTARS! I hope they keep reading all school year long, keep trying books that are a little outside their comfort zones, and most importantly, keep finding books they just can't put down.

Thank you, 4th and 5th graders, for making book club such a fun part of my summer. Keep reading, keep thinking, and keep sharing those big ideas! 📚

Junior high kids...you are ready! You are ready for a great year of learning, growing, studying and so much more.

We had a wonderful summer reading together. We read two new-to-all-of-us novels this summer and had some really great discussions along the way. I loved hearing each student’s thoughts and opinions and watching them listen and react to each other’s ideas.

This group was wound up and goofy in all the ways that middle school students should be, but they also knew when it was time to settle in, think deeply and get to work. We laughed a lot, had some great conversations and, most importantly, grew as readers and thinkers.

I hope you all have an amazing start to the school year. Keep reading, keep sharing your ideas, keep working hard and don’t lose that goofiness that made this group so much fun. Have a great year! ❤

My sweet, lovable first graders...I am going to miss you so much, but I couldn't be more proud of how much you've grown this summer. You are funny, kind, competitive, and most of all...you are READERS!

As my own youngest gets ready to head off to full-day school, I have all the emotions. This group reminded me that he'll be surrounded by smart, kind, hardworking friends every day (and if I'm lucky, I'll still get lots of hugs after school!).

This amazing group worked on first-grade sight words, Magic E words, reading a new poem fluently every single week, listening comprehension, making predictions, sequencing, and so much more. Watching their confidence grow week after week has been such a joy.

Proud doesn't even begin to describe how I feel about these readers. I hope each of you has a wonderful start to the school year, and I hope I get the chance to keep reading and learning with many of you again very soon. ❤️

3rd graders...boy, did we have fun this summer!

This was definitely a chatty group, but in all the right ways. My favorite part was how much they loved getting to know one another. They shared stories, encouraged each other, and built some great friendships. They also knew that when it was time to work, it was time to work!

This summer they worked on characterization, summarizing, context clues, main idea, and so much more. They even read two novels and had a blast doing it.

I truly am going to miss this fun group of kids. But I mean it even more when I say there are some very lucky 3rd grade teachers waiting for them this fall. ❤️

Another math group wrapped up this week—our Problem Solving Math Group!

This group was SO much fun! Throughout our time together, students learned how to use the CUBE strategy to tackle word problems and then applied it to all kinds of challenging math tasks. We raced in teams to solve multi-step problems, uncovered fun facts through math, completed scavenger hunts, played games, and so much more!

One of my favorite parts of this group was watching students who didn't know each other on the first day become teammates, encourage one another, and leave with not only stronger problem-solving skills but also new friendships.

To my amazing 3rd–5th graders: I hope you enjoy these last few weeks of summer! Keep remembering that math IS fun, keep challenging yourself, work hard, and always be kind. I can't wait to see all the great things you accomplish this school year!

That's a wrap on our Multiplication & Division Math Fact Group!

This group was so much fun. The students worked hard, played lots of games, and made great progress building their multiplication and division fact fluency.

One of my favorite parts of these groups is bringing together students of different ages. They encourage one another, learn from each other, and celebrate each other's successes along the way. It's amazing to watch their confidence grow!

I'm so proud of all they accomplished this summer. Way to go, everyone! ❤

First graders continue to show up each week ready to put their best foot forward. Each session, they master a new poem while building important literacy skills. We've been working on digraphs, sequencing stories with beginning, middle and end, and learning first grade sight words.

Most importantly, they have so much fun together! They laugh, giggle, encourage one another, and celebrate each other's successes. Watching their confidence and love of learning grow each week has been truly a joy! I am looking forward to our last 2 summer sessions together but also seeing them flourish in first grade!

3rd grade rockstars! ⭐📚

They love telling me all about the connections they make to our stories—their weekends, their plans, and everything in between—and I absolutely love hearing every bit of it.

I also love hearing them cheer each other on (and sometimes themselves 😊), practice their decoding skills, use context clues, retell the main idea, and tackle so many other reading challenges with confidence.

It has been so exciting to watch their comprehension, fluency, and overall confidence grow. We have a few more weeks together, and I know they're going to finish the summer strong! 💙
