Happy Birthday, Miquette 🎉
Today we celebrate our founder, whose faith and leadership have helped shape generations of students in Haiti through education, opportunity, and hope. Her vision has always been bigger than a classroom—it has been about restoration through the next generation.
Because of that vision, something historic is now happening in St. Michel: we are officially opening our 8th grade for the very first time. This is the next step in building a full school journey for our students, year by year.
This milestone marks the beginning of a new chapter for Teach Haiti and the children we serve. đź’›

Growth at Teach Haiti has never been rushed—it has been intentional. From the very beginning, we’ve added one grade at a time, and now something historic is happening in St. Michel: for the first time ever, we’re opening an 8th grade for 20 students.
Fifteen of these students still need a sponsor at $45/month to continue their education and stay on this path toward becoming the first graduating class at our St. Michel school. Read the full story and be part of their beginning: www.teachhaiti.org/growing-with-purpose-one-grade-at-a-time

Fun Fact Friday đź‡đź‡ą
Did you know?
In Haiti, Labor Day (May 1st) is sometimes celebrated with soup joumou—a delicious pumpkin soup rich in history and meaning.
While it’s most famously eaten on January 1st for Independence Day—celebrating Haiti’s freedom from France in 1804—soup joumou is also enjoyed throughout the year as a symbol of freedom, unity, and resilience.
Even on Labor Day, it serves as a reminder of the dignity of hard work and the strength of the Haitian people working in the gardens and selling at the markets.
At Teach Haiti, students don’t just learn facts—they live and celebrate their history and culture every day. đź‡đź‡ą

For Haiti, foutbòl — what we call soccer in the U.S. — means more than a game. đź‡đź‡ąâš˝
For the first time since 1974, Haiti is headed back to the FIFA World Cup — and a new generation is dreaming again.
For children across Haiti, this moment is about more than sports. It is about hope, resilience, unity, and the belief that their future can be bigger than their circumstances.
In our newest blog, we share why Haiti’s World Cup return matters — and what it reveals about the strength of the Haitian people.

This is reGeneration

Teach Haiti students won an inter-school debate against one of Haiti’s leading Catholic schools, and one of our 12th graders was named Best Debater.
Students prepared to argue both sides of a complex national issue, building critical thinking, confidence, and leadership skills along the way. This is what the Complete Education Model looks like in action: students learning to think deeply, speak clearly, and lead with conviction. This is the reGeneration.
