There’s something special about a community that cares for the place they call home. It wasn’t just about weeding and mulching—it was about investing in our school, our environment, and each other.

At Prairie School of DuPage, nature is our co-teacher.

Our students explore 42 acres of woods, prairie, and wetland, discovering both the wonders of the natural world and their own strength, curiosity, and voice.

Through child-led, experiential learning, we nurture the whole child – they leave the forest knowing not only facts, but themselves.

At Prairie School of DuPage, we see this every day.
A child stops to watch an ant; another collects acorns like treasure; A third gazes at the sky, naming clouds.

This is the magic of a nature-based education.

Traditional academics: reading, writing, math, science.

How we do it: reading under the trees, counting with sticks, observing pond life, measuring garden growth.

Learning doesn’t have to happen at a desk to be rigorous. In fact, some of the most powerful lessons happen when students ask their own questions, get their hands dirty, and discover answers for themselves.

Education is here – somewhere between the woods, the pond, and the garden.

Let them lead. 🌿

When children explore at their own pace, something beautiful unfolds. Nature invites them to slow down, look closely, and discover with all their senses.

At Prairie School of the DuPage, we honor this rhythm—trusting that real learning happens when curiosity leads the way. 🍃
