Academic, Masculine, Cheerful

Established in 2003, The Avalon School brings the spirit of adventure and friendship to boys in kindergarten through grade twelve in an independent day school featuring a challenging liberal arts curriculum. The school seeks to cultivate in its students a sense of intellectual freedom and personal responsibility; to foster the gifts of faith and culture that are with

in each boy's reach; and to help them fulfill the deep desire to live a noble life that resides in all men. These ideals form the foundation of the school and are encouraged through rigorous study, hearty athletics, broad activity and the daily example of both faculty and parents. The Avalon School aims to develop not only fine young men but a vital intellectual and social community of families in Montgomery County.

Young Crafters & Explorers: Session 1 Highlights | Week one of Young Crafters & Explorers is in the books. 🌿

Camp leader Tabitha wanted to share a moment from the week: the group had hiked out to one of their exploring spots for lunch. She got everyone settled on towels under the trees, lunch unpacked, a light rain coming down— a genuinely calm and lovely moment. Then the daddy long legs arrived. Forty of them, by the boys' count, all collected into a critter cage before lunch was even over.

Creek wading, kite flying, nature walks, and apparently spider wrangling—this is what a week at Young Crafters & Explorers looks like.

Session 2 is July 13–17 (K–2, The Avalon School, $300), and spots are still open for other summer camps as well. See the full lineup at the link in bio (Avalonschools.org/summer-camps)or email [email protected].

Day 7 | Mustard Seed Mission Trip | We are home!

We are grateful for your thoughts and prayers while we were away, as well as for the generous donations that made this trip possible.

Please continue to pray for the residents of Mustard Seed, as they are among the most vulnerable. Please also pray for the caretakers who look after them — they are truly doing God's work.

Day 6 | Jacob's Ladder, Jamaica 🇯🇲 | The 5AM breakfast crew was up before the sun—voluntarily, which speaks to where these students' hearts are right now after a week of service.

After Mass of Thanksgiving, the group headed to Ocho Rios for a well-earned beach day, snorkeling in the crystal-clear Caribbean and soaking in the beauty of this island.

But the magic came in the evening. Back at Jacob's Ladder, the community gathered for a talent show that turned into something much bigger—dancing, laughing, hugging. Students who arrived as strangers danced on stage hand-in-hand with the residents, held babies, and shared smiles that will last long after the trip ends.

Exhausted? Yes. Fulfilled? Absolutely.

Thank you for your continued prayers!

Jacob’s Ladder: Day 5, June 17.

Another beautiful day at Mustard Seed. Students help with the breakfast. Field day with the residents, some work completed and soccer with the Haitians in the evening.

We are blessed to be here. Thank you for your support and prayers.

Day 4: Tuesday, June 16. Jacob’s Ladder, Jamaica. The students continue to embrace the opportunities offered by the mission with love and patience.

We enjoyed dinner out at the world famous Scotchies. Best jerk food on the island!

Our continued thanks to Mustard Seed for hosting us and for your continued prayers.

Strategy Game Camp: Summer Camps in Full Swing | Strategy Game Camp is back and better than ever. Campers spent the week thinking deeply, playing hard, and making memories—from Dungeons & Dragons to Ticket to Ride to wiffle ball in the parking lot. Led by the beloved Istvan Teleki, this perennial favorite keeps selling out for good reason. One session still remains this summer.

Monday, June 15 at Mustard Seed. Up early for breakfast. Took a tour of the facility led by Tavares. The students got to experience shrinking violets on the lawn. We were able to do a little farming, make bracelets with the residents and spend time with the little ones. What a day! We even got a little rain!
We look forward to the opportunities God will provide us with today and thank you for your continued prayers.
