We are a weekly classical co-school campus supporting Christian homeschool families. In 2003, we offered our first elective courses.

The original concept for the Greenhouse grew from Jennifer Spacek's experience as the first music teacher for a similar ministry in the western suburbs of Philadelphia in 1988. Finding nothing comparable when they moved to Chicago, the Spaceks began praying for a resource for parents in this area. In 1999, Tom Spacek approached leaders at Church of the Resurrection in Wheaton about launching a Cla

Core Day Art Show
This year our Grammar and Logic students combined their study of Ancient history with exploring and creating art from the time period.

Logic students created their unique version of an Egyptian mummy case with papier mâché card stock and acrylic paint. Many students chose to embellish their mummy cases with
semiprecious “jewels.”

Grammar students painted pots to replicate Greek vases by employing either the red- or black-figure technique. Logic students took another approach entirely. A base layer of oil pastel was covered in black paint. The design was revealed by scratching off the surface to uncover a beautiful Greek-inspired illustration.

Grammar students designed colorful patterns and strung an array of beads to create original pieces of Egyptian style jewelry. A jewel-encrusted medallion brings focus to these impressive three-tiered necklaces. They also constructed Greek theater masks using paper, paste, paint, and a touch of glitter to enhance each mask’s personality.

The Grammar and Logic students worked together on a Group Cave Painting and painted or stenciled animals, people, handprints, or mysterious symbols on their “cave walls” and textured the images with spattered paint and tinted washes.

Applications are no longer being accepted for our Core program, but we do offer a variety of Electives. Space is limited so register today.

Rem tene, verba sequentur.

“Grasp the subject, and the words will follow.”
- Cato the Elder

Latin is considered the cornerstone of classical education. It serves as the foundation for Western civilization - teaching students how to think logically, dramatically improving their English vocabulary, and unlocking primary historical, theological, and scientific texts.

Greenhouse offers both Elementary Latin (grades 4-7) and Latin I (grades 7-12) beginning in September. Space is limited so register soon.

Greenhouse Art Electives Art Show
Students from Drawing and Acrylic Painting classes had their outstanding creative artwork on display throughout the Greenhouse building.
Drawing students showed off their skill mastering various media including graphite pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, conte crayons and pastel pencils. The many drawings on display exhibited blending and shading techniques such as stippling, circulism, cross hatching and scumbling.
Painting students learned the basics of color theory and color mixing, and the foundation of acrylic painting executed in color, stroke and texture. They learned the modern art periods: Painterly, Realism, Impressionism, Expressionism, Abstract Modernism and Surrealism. Students created paintings following the style and techniques of these periods.
Each Elective Art student grew in their confidence in creating art and made great progress in their own creative process and personal style.

Guests also enjoyed student art, musicians, recitations, and living wax museum tableaus, as well as alumni and teacher testimonials.
