Our academic program for kids from 12+ years includes both visual, structural drawing, painting and sculpture. This time-tested program gives students a high degree of skills. Drawing is the foundation of everything we do at school. We use both: sight-si

ze technique and comparative method technique. We focus on drawing from life, we teach kids to measure and transfer correct measurements to the paper. Back in 2016 Polina Bisevac (Artist, Art Educator, Author) decided to make a difference in the West Suburbs of Chicago. She founded the art school that gives classical art education for teens and prepares them for colleges and universities. Bisevac developed unique method and program that gives amazing results in fairly short time. The school is similar to the adult classical art atelier with skill oriented curriculum. RAS has academic approach for every age, level and experience! We do make a difference!

How Can I Learn to Draw Portraits in Different Mediums?

The answer is simple: draw more portraits.

Want to master graphite? Draw portraits in graphite.
Charcoal? Draw them in charcoal.
Pastels, colored pencils, acrylics, oils? Practice portraits in each one.

Every medium has its own rules, techniques, and challenges.

Watercolor is often considered the hardest traditional painting medium. There is very little room for correction, and every brushstroke matters.

“Talent” is one of the most overrated concepts in art.
Skills are developed through dedication and practice, not simply inherited.

While talent may help some individuals learn more quickly,
without discipline, consistent practice, constructive feedback, and perseverance, talent alone has little value.

This is not the result of magic or being a “born artist.”
