We couldn't be prouder of club's own Erin Janulis, who received a Wheaton 2026 Good Citizens Award! Each year, the Community Relations Commission recognizes residents who go above and beyond in giving back to our community through their volunteer efforts and good deeds.

Erin was recognized for being an engaged and dependable volunteer through the Wheaton Junior Womenโ€™s Clubโ€™s involvement with Bridge Communities, Inc., Sleep Out Saturday, a teacher supply drive, Buddy Baseball program and as the Lowell Elementary PTA vice president.

You are amazing, Erin and thank you for all you do! ๐Ÿ‘

โœจ Member Spotlight: Meet Laura! โœจ

The members of our club are the heart of what we do! In our latest Member Spotlight, get to know Laura (who gets to write the Really Big Checks).

How long have you been a member? 6 years

Why did you join? Honestly? I was invited to a meeting where they were doing a craft project and since I'm a sucker for a good craft project I went! After meeting the other members and learning about the mission beyond fun crafts, I signed up - and am happy that I did.

What do you love most about the club? Sharing a common purpose with other women who I probably would never have met otherwise. We're all different personalities, ages, job types - yet similar in our desire to give back while having fun, and we work together really well.

What is your favorite memory of the club so far? Serving ice cream bars and popcorn last summer at Buddy Baseball. I love that program, and sharing tasty treats was such a fun bonus!

Which service project has meant the most to you and why? Buddy Baseball. It's big and complicated and involved - and has such a huge impact on the community. It's daunting for brand new members to figure out at first but the club does a great job running it and the participants love it so much that it is a really great experience. To our newer members - just dive in!

What is the most rewarding part about volunteering? As the Treasurer, I enjoy writing really big checks (literally - we have a Really Big Check) to our scholarship and philanthropy recipients. We work hard to raise money throughout the year, and being able to share it with students and non-profits who can use it is heartwarming.

What friendships have you built through the club? I've become friends with women that I wouldn't have known otherwise. I find that I have something different in common with every member, and once we figure out what that is, it's always a good conversation!

What's your go-to guilty pleasure? Losing myself in a jigsaw puzzle when I should be doing a million other things...

Weโ€™re so grateful for you, Lauraโ€” and for the passion and financial prowess you bring to everything you do. ๐Ÿ’™
