Dear WSD Families,

We want to keep you informed regarding a matter affecting our community. Overnight, Wheatland Union High School received another call/threat connected to the ongoing series of suspicious calls affecting schools in our area.

Out of an abundance of caution, all campuses have maintained enhanced security measures overnight, and existing safety protocols have remained in place throughout. We have been in close communication with local law enforcement regarding this situation.

At this time, all campuses within Wheatland remain open and are operating on their normal daily schedules.
Staff and administrators remain vigilant, and we continue to work closely with law enforcement to monitor the situation. Your children's safety is our top priority.

We will continue to keep our community informed as more information becomes available. If you have questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to your school's front office. In addition, if you have any leads on the caller, please contact us immediately. We are still actively pursuing this individual.

Dear Falcon Families,

I am writing to inform you of an incident that occurred today involving a student bringing a knife on campus.

During a scheduled security search, staff discovered that a student was in possession of a knife. I want to emphasize that the knife was intercepted before the student reached the regular campus, and at no time was it displayed, used, or was any threat made toward another person. Our safety protocols worked exactly as intended, and there was no danger to students or staff at any point during this incident.

The student involved is being held accountable in accordance with our student code of conduct and district discipline policies. Because this is a student disciplinary matter, we are not able to share further details out of respect for student privacy.

I want to reassure you that your children's safety remains our highest priority. Our staff followed established procedures promptly and effectively.

If your student has questions or concerns about this incident, especially in light of all that has been going on, please know that our counseling staff are available to talk with them. Parents with questions are welcome to contact the school office at 530-633-3135.

Wheatland School District and Wheatland Union High School District Families

Good morning,

Our security precautions remained in place overnight, and we received no new calls. All schools in both districts are open today on normal schedules, and we are looking forward to a regular Friday.

Staff will continue to keep a watchful eye and stay vigilant.

This has been a long week for our community. Our families adjusted plans, our staff turned on a dime again and again, and our students handled a lot of uncertainty with real grace. Our thanks as well to the Wheatland Police Department, the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office, and every agency that showed up for our kids this week.

We are glad to simply say: we can’t wait to see everyone at school today!

A Message to Our School Community

We want our campuses to remain open and welcoming spaces for families, especially after school hours. In light of recent bomb threats, however, out of an abundance of caution we are asking the community to limit after hours traffic on campus at this time.

To help ensure everyone's safety, we currently have security personnel on-site each evening, and our staff is actively monitoring campus cameras.

We kindly ask that community members stay off campus grounds after hours until this situation is fully resolved. Campuses will remained locked after school.

We will continue to share updates through ParentSquare and our social media channels as more information becomes available.

Your understanding and support are appreciated as we work through this together.

Dear Wheatland School District Families and Community,

Overnight, another anonymous call was received. This one did not name a specific school — it referred only to “schools in Wheatland”. All schools in both districts will be open today on our normal schedules.

Here is what we know:
• Security walks were completed at the end of the day yesterday.
• Added security was posted overnight, so we can account for our campuses through the night.
• Camera footage was reviewed and confirmed no one unauthorized was on any campus.
• Law enforcement swept the campuses again this morning.

Law enforcement has determined the call is not credible, and there is nothing to suggest any actual threat to our students or staff. Because of everything above, we are confident in opening today as scheduled.

Our two districts are continuing to make these decisions together, so that families with students in both receive the same information and the same schedule.

Security will remain in place, we are in close contact with law enforcement, and we will continue to be vigilant. If anything changes, you will hear from us right away.

If your student is feeling anxious about school today, counselors are available at every site.

Dear Wheatland School District and Wheatland Union High School District Families and Community,

Wheatland School District and Wheatland Union High School District are writing jointly to update our shared community regarding the bomb threat received this morning at Bear River and Wheatland Union High School. Both sites have been fully cleared, and all students and staff are safe. Wheatland Union High School District resumed normal operations at 10:00 a.m. this morning, and Bear River, which was closed this morning out of caution, has also been cleared and will remain closed today, reopening tomorrow.

Investigators have determined that the threat was non-credible. The Wheatland Police Department is working diligently with the FBI to identify and locate the individual responsible for this hoax. Both districts are coordinating closely with the Wheatland Police Department, the Yuba County Sheriff's Office, and the FBI to ensure appropriate safety measures remain in place out of an abundance of caution and to actively pursue the person responsible for this call.

Moving Forward:

Student safety is always our first priority. Both districts are implementing additional protocols to secure our campuses each day, including:
• Extra security personnel monitoring campuses overnight at Wheatland High School District, Bear River, and Wheatland Elementary.
• Site sweeps and video footage reviews each morning before campuses open.
• Additional patrols by local law enforcement agencies throughout the day and night.

Wheatland Union High School District has a dedicated School Resource Officer, and our two districts are working closely together — with the high school district lending support to Wheatland School District as needed, alongside the increased patrols and security measures described above.

Should any further threats arise, joint protocols have now been established between our districts and our law enforcement partners to expedite campus clearing, allowing school operations to resume as quickly and safely as possible.

Both districts will be fully operational tomorrow, including Bear River, on our regular schedule.

We understand incidents like this are unsettling for our students, families, and staff. The safety of our school community remains our top priority, and we thank our law enforcement partners for their swift and thorough response. We will continue to keep families informed, and our counselors will be available for any student or staff member who needs support.

Wheatland School District Families and Community,

Good morning. Law enforcement is responding to a threat this morning at Bear River Middle School and at Wheatland Union High School. Out of an abundance of caution, we are asking Bear River families to keep your students home while we get clear direction from the Wheatland Police Department and the Yuba County Sheriff's Office.

Bear River Middle School families: please do not bring your student to campus. No students or staff will be on the Bear River campus until we have the all clear. The Wheatland Police Department has contacted the appropriate authorities and requested bomb-sniffing dogs to conduct a full sweep of the campus. Given the time required to complete this process thoroughly, we have made the decision to cancel school for the day at Bear River.

All other district campuses will remain open today. Additional staff will be present at those sites to provide extra supervision and monitoring throughout the day. If anything changes, we will notify those families right away.

We will keep all our families posted throughout the morning. Our goal is to get students back on campus as soon as we safely can.
