Dear Dwyer Families,

The definition of a hero is someone who protects our world and continues to make it a better place, despite having to see its darkest aspects every day. Our Rockaway Township Police Officers courageously put on their badges each day and sacrifice more daily than many do in a lifetime.

Third grade students are asking our Dwyer families for help. For our Seeds of Service Project this month, we would like to give thanks to our local Rockaway Township Police Officers who give so much to our community on a daily basis. We would like to collect items for an “On the Go” bag that can be used by local law enforcement for long shifts, when stopping for a meal is not an option. We are requesting the following items:

Grade K- Ranft: small notepads/pens/pencils
Scheetz: chapsticks
Haza: hand sanitizers/wet wipes/tissues

Grade 1- Lampmann: mints
Hemmer: pens/pencils/small notebooks
Margroff: small bags of chips/pretzels

Grade 2- Van Orden: protein bars
DerKinderen: trail mix
Gruener: breakfast bars

Grade 3- Kasak: prepackaged snacks
Massaro: gum
Dacey: mints

Grade 4- Bain-Herbison: wet wipes/ Hand sanitizer/tissues
Meyers: small packaged tissues
Morgan: gum

Grade 5- Baker: Gatorade
Warnock: water bottles
Farrell: band-aids

We will be collecting items starting Monday, January 12th, until Friday, January 30th. Students can turn donations into their homeroom teachers and we will also have a collection box outside the office doors. Thank you for your assistance with this project.

Attached you will find a paper to write a message of thanks or an opportunity to share a story where the Rockaway Township Police Department has helped you or your family. We will select several students' responses to read aloud during the morning announcements over the collection week. This is due by Friday, January 30th.

Dwyer's Holiday Wishes Toy Drive SUCCESS this year!
Dwyer parents and students fulfilled 4 gifts each for 24 Rockaway children, for a total of 96 gifts. A parent also donated an additional 7 toys. We also collected $325 in Target/Walmart gift cards, in $25 increments. $200 of the gift cards were from a retired Dwyer teacher and friends. These gift cards will be used by Holiday Wishes to supplement gifts for the children.
Thank you to all the Dwyer parents, teachers, and staff who donated to help Rockaway children have a nice Christmas!

Mrs. Samad, Alayna, Zade and Mrs. Rimawi shared the beauty of Ramadan with the 4th grade students! They talked about the importance of kindness, compassion, and reflection during this special time. Alayna and Zade even read us beautiful books and shared their thoughts on kindness. We were so inspired by their kindness board, where they focused on being the ‘light’ in someone else's day! It’s amazing to see them embracing these values and spreading positivity.
