Hard work, leadership and agricultural excellence deserve to be celebrated. 🌾
Wetumpka High School student Jackson Blakely was recognized during the July 21 Elmore County Board of Education meeting for his outstanding achievement in FFA (formerly Future Farmers of America), an organization that develops students' leadership skills while preparing them for careers in agriculture, science and related industries.
Jackson earned first place at the Alabama FFA State Creed Speaking Contest and will represent Alabama at the National FFA Convention and Expo, where he will compete in the national Creed Speaking Contest Oct. 20-24, 2026. His accomplishment reflects countless hours of preparation, confidence and dedication both inside and outside the classroom.
Director of the Elmore County Technical Center Emilie Johnson praised students for the countless hours they dedicate beyond the school day, noting they aren't earning grades or extra credit for these projects. Instead, they're driven by a passion for learning, leadership and developing skills that will serve them well into the future.
