WECC was so proud to be included among statewide leaders today for a national conversation about authentic family leadership!

We joined the Connecticut Office of Early Childhood, Connecticut State Department of Education, Parent Ambassadors, and the National Center for Family & Parent Leadership to share Connecticut’s story.

WECC was proud to share an idea at the heart of our work:

October 7, 21 & November 4, 2026
Choose a morning session (9:15–11:15 AM) or evening session (5:30–7:30 PM)

During this hands-on, 3-week series you'll learn simple, everyday techniques that turn ordinary moments like mealtime, bath time, story time into powerful opportunities to build your child's language and literacy skills.

Each week builds on the one before, so please plan to attend all three sessions in the series.

Food and childcare (3+) will be provided.

Fresh air is not a break from learning. It is some of the best learning there is.

When a baby reaches for grass and feels the texture under their hands they are building tactile awareness, sensory connections, and early brain pathways. When a toddler digs, climbs, and runs they are developing gross motor skills, independence, and the cause and effect thinking that comes from real interaction with the real world. When a preschooler creates their own game, navigates a log, or tries something that feels a little scary they are building risk taking, confidence, cooperation, and decision making skills that no indoor activity can fully replicate.

Nature is one of the best classrooms there is. And it is right outside the door.

Every adventure is a learning opportunity.
