Hej Allihopa!
My name is Sienna Veroude. I am looking to work with Swedish families in the Connecticut/NYC area this summer who want extra support keeping the Swedish language and culture present in their children’s everyday lives.
I know from personal experience how difficult it can sometimes be for children growing up in the US to stay motivated to speak Swedish consistently — but also how valuable it becomes later in life.
Thanks to growing up speaking Swedish at home, I am now able to study a swedish engineering program at Uppsala University in Sweden, something I’m incredibly grateful for.
This summer, I would love to help families through things such as:
• Swedish-speaking nannying/babysitting
• Conversational Swedish practice for children
• Tutoring and homework help in Swedish
• Baking, crafts, cultural activities, and group activities
• Support for older students interested in studying or applying to schools/universities in Sweden
I previously organized Swedish baking camps for children during the summers and have grown up very involved in the Swedish community in Connecticut through Svenska Skolan in westport, where my mother is the principal.
I’m 21 years old, based in Fairfield County this july and august, and happy to commute into NYC if needed.
If this sounds like something your family may be interested in, feel free to send me a message! 🙂
