• Choose 2 teachers who not only you like, but who also like you 😉. Don’t choose just the popular teachers.
• Try to choose 1 teacher from math or science and 1 teacher from English or history, if possible.
• Teachers can be from any year of high school not just junior year, but more recent is best.
• Choose a teacher that has seen you work hard and grow throughout the year not just a class where you achieved A’s.
• If you have a teacher in the classroom who also knows you outside the classroom too like a club advisor or coach is a great pick.
• It’s a good idea to choose who teaches the subject you want to study in college

How to ask:
• Before or after class, or before or after the school day, ask them in person. For example: “Hi! I’m starting to work on my college applications, would you be willing to write a letter of recommendation for me? You have really seen me grow this year and I’ve enjoyed this class.”
• Follow up with an email to confirm and include a copy of your activities resume.
• Confirm if your school requires a form you have to fill out as well.
