It is a privilege to invite you to join The Chopin Symposium, an event that is recognized for its brilliant performances and unique programming. Under the artistic direc

tion of Roberto Poli, for the past four years the symposium had gathered superb performers and illustrious scholars such as Russell Sherman, Jim Samson, Alan Walker, Max Levinson, Elizabeth Keusch, Jeffrey Kallberg, James H. This year’s highlights include concert performances by pianists Sergei Babayan, and Andrew Tyson; classes and lectures by Babayan, Angel Ramón Rivera, Zofia Chechlinska, Jonathan Bellman, and Bruce Brubaker; and a reenactment of Chopin’s concert at Paris’s Pleyel Salon in 1842 with pianist Roberto Poli, mezzo-soprano D’Anna Fortunato, and cellist Ronald Lowry.

Italian pianist Roberto Poli will be Fryderyk Chopin in a reenactment of Chopin's 1842 concert at the Pleyel Salon in Paris. Among the works presented by Mr. Poli, the Ballade in A-flat Major, Op. 47, which opened the program.

Extraordinary Armenian mezzo-soprano Victoria Avetisyan will be Pauline Viardot in a reenactment of Chopin's 1842 concert at the Pleyel Salon in Paris. Among the works presented by Ms. Avetisyan, two American premieres - "Felice Donzella", aria by Josef Dessauer; and "Le Chêne et le Roseau" by Pauline Viardot. The autographs of Chopin’s works are dispersed all over the world, and are preserved in public libraries and private collections. The National Chopin Institute in Warsaw has begun to publish a series of volumes that feature the photographic reproduction of these precious documents.

Celebrated Chopin scholar Zofia Chechlinska, editor in-chief of the facsimile series, joins The Chopin Symposium and guides us through the various stages of the project, from the methods of preparation of the facsimile itself to the introductory material that accompanies each volume. This is an extraordinary project for both Chopin scholars and pianists.
