What an incredible evening celebrating the past year at Temple Dor Dorim 🎉

At our Annual Meeting we had the opportunity to reflect on the meaningful moments, accomplishments, and growth our community experienced together this year.

We were especially proud to recognize the volunteers, leaders, and congregants who went above and beyond to help strengthen our Temple and create a more welcoming, supportive home for our families and community. Your commitment, generosity, and passion continue to shape the spirit of TDD every single day.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, shared in the celebration, and helped make this past year one to remember. We’re so excited for all that’s still ahead. 💙

As we celebrate Shavuot, Rabbi Zive reflects on what it truly means to receive Torah, not only as a moment that happened long ago at Mount Sinai, but as something we continue to experience every day through the choices we make, the values we live by, and the way we show up for one another.

Torah is found in acts of patience, compassion, forgiveness, connection, and purpose. In a world that moves so quickly, Shavuot reminds us to slow down long enough to remember who we are, what matters most, and the holiness that can be found in even the most ordinary moments.

Congratulations to the Confirmation Class of 5786 on this meaningful milestone in your Jewish journey. Today, you stand proud of your Jewish identity and your commitment to our values & traditions.

Through your dedication, learning, and participation in synagogue life, you have strengthened not only your own connection to Judaism, but also our entire Jewish community.

As we begin Bamidbar, “In the Wilderness,” Rabbi Zive reflects on how the Israelites’ wandering was not only a time of uncertainty but a sacred space where they discovered resilience, faith, strength, and community. Sometimes the most meaningful moments don’t happen once we arrive, but in the middle of the journey itself.

Whether you’re a soft shell or a hard shell taco kind of person, everyone brings something special to the table.

This month’s Shabbat+ was all about the people who shape our lives and our stories, the ones who lift us, guide us, and fill our community with love. 🌮💛

And a very special congratulations to Chaya Goldstein on being selected to the North American Board! Thank you for showing our community what it means to shape others’ lives with leadership, kindness, and heart. ✨

Don’t forget to join us this Friday, at 6:30 PM, for Shabbat with Confirmation, and celebrate our students as they continue to shape their futures.

Please join us for TDD’s Annual Congregational Meeting on Tuesday, May 19, at 7 PM, beginning with wine & cheese. We’ll reminisce about the meaningful events and accomplishments from the past fiscal year while looking ahead to an exciting year to come. Listen as Rabbi Zive reflects on the people who helped shape who we are and the ways their love, values, and traditions continue living through us today, passed down through stories told at the dinner table, traditions shared year after year, moments of kindness we witnessed, and strength we admired.

As Psalm 145 teaches, “Dor l’dor yabia omer,” “one generation shall speak to another.” Tonight at Shabbat+, we celebrate those connections through family & community.

As we move through this week, Rabbi Zive invites us to reflect on what we’ve inherited and how we choose to live it. In Parashat Emor, roles aren’t chosen; they’re given. So too, we carry a quiet calling: to show up with intention, compassion, and integrity.

Being a light doesn’t require grand gestures. It lives in the small moments, a kind word, a thoughtful pause, a choice to lead with empathy, and in trusting that even the smallest spark can make a difference.
