A “looth toof"
Nature’s ultimate fidget toy!

Can you remember losing your baby teeth? Not surprisingly, many of us can because it is such an exciting, major event in a child’s life. For days on end, all life seems to revolve around that loose tooth. It’s difficult to keep your hands off the wiggley, wobbley rascal! It’s pretty frustrating too. After the first little wiggle, it can seem to take FOREVER to come out! And some of the unusual methods people advise for coaxing out the little wiggler; who can forget that! But, in the end, all it really takes is patience and persistence.

If you have a loose baby tooth; or, if you’re someone yet to lose that first tooth who is filled with curiosity and excitement about the up-coming momentous event, “Wiggle, Wobble” was written for you. If you’re an adult sharing in this milestone with a child, “Wiggle, Wobble” was also written for you. Not only does it take you along on a young boy’s loose tooth adventure complete with anticipation, waiting and wacky advice, but it also shares sound dental advice and information about what and why this is happening. Welcome to the wonderful, whimsical world of wiggles and wobbles!

Dr. Kekkonen has long valued and enjoyed children’s literature for the opportunities it offers to learn about the world in and around us. Wiggle Wobble is his second children’s book. His first, Maggie, Marshall and the Magic Magnifying Glass, 2016 EVVY gold medal winner, adds a little “yuck” factor in explaining what germs are doing inside our mouths. Dr. Doug practiced family dentistry in Westminster, Colorado for more than 20 years. He also enjoyed teaching in middle and elementary schools for 15 years. As a dentist, a father of four and grandfather of nine, he knows the excitement and frustrations of losing that first baby tooth.

“Wiggle Wobble by Dr. Doug is a cleverly written book about a boy who discovers a loose tooth. This is a sign of "growing up" for every child but it can be a puzzling and sometimes scary experience. The creative illustrations in the book show the boy's imagination as to how the tooth may come out. Included in these thoughts are words that can expand the child's vocabulary. This is a fresh approach to help children understand changes that occur as they get older. Wiggle Wobble would be a valuable resource for both parents and teachers.”

I. C. - Retired early childhood educator: kindergarten and Head Start teacher

“Wiggle Wobble is a wonderful book full of great teaching points for elementary children of every age. The illustrations are fun and parents will appreciate the information in the back.”

Y. B. - Retired teacher

“Doug Kekkonen’s book Wiggle, Wobble is “spot-on” to engage, entertain and educate young readers, teachers and parents about the scary but exciting event of losing a tooth. Don’t miss all the interesting information at the end of the book. I learned a lot! I loved this book and can’t wait to read it to my students!!”

T. V. - Kindergarten teacher

“Wiggle Wobble is an excellent children’s book about losing baby teeth. It’s descriptive, fun and easy to understand. The last page explains it all. Accurate and to the point. Simple word recognition and relating the story to a loose tooth is a great way for a child to learn to read and understand that a loose tooth is all a part of growing up.

I need to ask you for a favor. What again! Yup, that's why we're called Facebook "friends." And if you didn't get a copy yet, what are you waiting for?

How do you get kids (and often adults) to brush their teeth? It's a question I was often confronted with when I was practicing dentistry. I wrote "Maggie, Marshall and the Magic Magnifying Glass" to explain the reasons to brush in a light-hearted, engaging story that kids can understand.
Research shows that repeated practice helps establish a new habit, so I also created the pictured tooth brushing chart with star stickers to help kids track their daily brushing.
I am currently seeking sponsors and grants to help bringing this book, chart and tooth brushes into elementary classrooms; especially to under-served populations where dental disease is the worst in children. If you know anyone who might be willing to underwrite a classroom or two, let me know.

You can order the book using the "shop now" tab above
OR
If you would like a signed copy and the tooth brushing chart with stars for the same price, email me at [email protected]
